RE: A jaunt down Belfast way

in StreetArt3 years ago

Great to see hopeful and interesting murals like this adorning walls in Belfast - it is a positive move away from the sectarian and emotive murals you more commonly see. The North has come a long way since the troubles, thank God and a big thanks must go to the US under Bill Clinton, John Hume and David Trimble for helping to broker a lasting peace. I remember I was in Boston playing an underage soccer tournament with my school when the Peace Process was signed and it was big news in Boston at the time too. A world where we can all respect each other is the one I want to live in and we have certainly moved towards that in the past 25 to 30 years. Peace Out.

I tell you what, Clinton is a legend in my eyes, he helped make it happen big time.
The sectarian murals I have heaps of from both sides, but this is not the place for them.
Yes peace and respect is what is needed, we might not all have the same beliefs etc but we need to respect each other.
Things have really changed.
I was banned from going back to Belfast by mother, she even would not let me got to Uni there, so it was only after she passed did I go back, and what a change for the good the city has gone through.
