Art from the Streets - Cape Town Part #2

in StreetArt3 years ago

Here we go - As said, here comes the second part full of awesome StreetArt from the streets of Cape Town. The first days here in that awesome city I was a bit frustrated cause i couldn´t see any streetart but I was still too focused on other things and as soon as I started to find them it never ended.

I see beautiful art on walls almost every day here and I can´t get enough. I guess tomorrow or the day after I will go hunting again and try to find some more stuff from artist I´ve already discovered.

Bushy Wopp is one of them for example. i really like that clean and colourful comic style. This one I actually wanted to use for the CCC´s Street Art Contest but I can´t wait. Here he covered one side of a whole house, while the other side is covered with some kind of forest waterfall and some abstract painting.

It´s weird that this colourful and friendly painting is in one of the neighbourhoods you should not go at night. Chances that you get robbed here at night are pretty high.

A reminder that we´re still in the suburb of Woodstock and I haven´t even explored other suburbs in regards to streetart. I really do hope that I find many many more awesome art out there. In the meanwhile we enjoy some more art from Ellena Lorrens, an artist I introduced in my last post already and some other abstract walls.

What I really like here is, that although some of the older paintings are fading away, some of them won´t get covered. It seems that some of these murals have a bigger meaning and it´s a no go to cross them. Like the one below, can´t remember the story behind it Ash told me about but it had to do with saving the Rhinos and some spiritual meaning.

Another famous painting from Woodstock with animals is that huge one with the giraffes. Took me a while to see what the artist did here. It also is a bit older and colours are fading. Would be cool if they put some new colours on one day.

When I was younger it was mostly letters that fascinated me, there was no such thing as big murals with portraits or animals or any other kind of painting. It was mostly graffiti big and colourful or simply silver. Nowadays I enjoy any art on walls, even tags if they have style and are not pure vandalism.

I absolutely loved that door someone created here in Woodstock. Art comes in so many different ways.

Although for us it mostly looks like just a colourful painting, Ash knew the story behind all of them and believe it or not, most of them have a meaning.

Ok I guess thats enough colourful wall art for today, I need to keep some dry powder for the CCC´s StreetArt Contest that is growing bigger each week and is one of my favourite Contests on the Hive Blockchain.
