I couldn't agree more. Most people fantasizing non-fictional heroes with great superpowers just like we see in TV, movies such as Spiderman, Hulk, Thor, Marvel heroes etc. I would like to share with you what I've discovered early in this morning, when I sent my son to school. I just noticed at the back of the school wall they're murals painted on it. If you look at it, as if there's nothing special about them. But behind those faces painted on the wall are fearless deeds.
Many people may not know them as they are not popular the same as with our National Hero who's Dr. Jose P. Rizal. But these faces painted here are considered Visayan Heroes in our place, epitomes of good citizens in our city. These mural paintings can be seen at the back of Pardo Extension Elementary School, Cebu City Philippines.
Here are there some brief known contributions of them not just in our city but in our country, Philippines.
This is Vicente Y. Sotto considered as the Father of Cebuano Language and Letters and established a law protects journalists.
This is Arcadio M. Maxilom, he was a teacher before he joined the Katipunan known as a revolutionary association main goal is to regain independence for the country from Spain. He is treasured as the last warrior standing and fighting to accept defeat.
This is Pantaleon Villegas better known as Leon Kilat. He was a revolutionary leader in Cebu during the Philippine Revolution against Spain together with Arcadio M.Maxilom.
There are many forgotten heroes, unsung figures played focal rules in shaping the nation's destiny, yet they didn't get the chance to be recognized. Youngster nowadays, didn't even bother to search and know them at all. But good thing, school are trying to commemorate them by another form of art to reconnect in the modern society.
