ÖKOMURAL, El Hatillo, CaracasLast Sunday, I was walking around El Hatillo in Caracas, and one of the places we visited was the small square Juan Manuel Escalona, located on Progreso street, whose main attraction is the ÖKOMURAL.
The ÖKOMURAL is a huge mural made of recycled plastic lids made to create ecological awareness. I think it is the only one of its kind in Caracas. At least of this size. And from what I've read, it's one of the biggest of its kind in Latin America.
This mural is a few years old, having been unveiled in 2016.
The artist who designed it is Oscar Olivares. And the construction of the mural was supported by an environmental organization called OkoSpiri.
The central figures of the design are the macaws and sunflowers.
Approximately 200,000 recycled plastic caps of different colors were collected for the mural.
The mural has a length of 43 meters, so to finish, I tried to make a panoramic view to give you an idea of the whole space covered by the mural.

There are a lot of people doing that kind of art nowadays. It's a trend and there are some great things, others just look like junk together. ;)
You have to be careful, alot of it is tat, and would not be used to be honest!
