Hello, wonderful people of the internet!

If you’ve been following me for some time, you would know that one of my favorite pastimes is traveling. Seeing new sights, exploring diverse cultures, indulging in the local food, meeting all sorts of different people, it's like living a hundred different lives. However, given the circumstances of the past year or so, I have been unable to explore new horizons physically.

Finally, I had the opportunity to stretch my legs and expand my horizons a little last week when I made a spontaneous decision to explore the art district of Bacolod City in the Philippines.

So here I am, taking you with me on a virtual trip, a postcard from the road.

There's an indefinable allure that draws one towards art districts. Is it the splash of colors? The numerous creations showcasing innumerable talents? The infectious atmosphere of unending inspiration? Perhaps, all these and more.

Bacolod City's Art District did not disappoint. Its vibrant splendor immediately enchanted me. The city itself was brimming with life, its energy undiminished despite the afternoon heat. As I ventured deeper into the district, I discovered an open space, quite reminiscent of the public markets that we often see in most Filipino provinces.

There were countless independent stalls displaying a multitude of art- from conventional paintings, mind-bending installations, meticulous sculptures to creative jewelry pieces and abstract designs. My favorite stall was adorned with canvases filled with vivid shades of life - reminiscent of a spring awakening. The more I saw, the more I became enthralled by the city's beating creative heart. It wasn’t just the sheer diversity of artistic styles, it was the intensity of creative expression on display, as raw and as fresh as you can imagine.

And then there were murals. Large, breathtaking murals sprawled across concrete walls. The raw power and storytelling contained within these urban canvases made them impossible to overlook. It felt like each artist had left pieces of their souls embedded in their work.

Of course, art is not complete without people who make it all possible. The artists. Most were open to discussions about their work, eagerly sharing their inspirations and ideas behind their creations. It's these interactions that often make trips like this even more fulfilling - getting to see through an artist's eyes, albeit for a fleeting moment.

Just like Bacolod City, its art district also has its sweet spots. Coffee shops and small restaurants flanked the streets, making for the perfect place to take a breather and let the immersion sink in. Sitting there, sipping my locally sourced brew, I watched people of all sorts mingle – the locals, the tourists, the art enthusiasts, and the curious passersby.

As the sun began to set and the soft, dusky light filtered through the narrow streets of Bacolod City, I bid goodbye to this little creative oasis.

I’m left with the poignant imprint of an incredibly enriching experience, making me appreciate, even more, the transformative power of art. Whether it be paintings, installations, sculptures, or a spray can on a city wall, it shows that art lives, breathes, and thrives. Just like Bacolod City itself, forever a testament to the talent, resilience, and creativity of its inhabitants.

This might have been my first encounter with the art district, but it won't be the last. The journey has been soul-enriching and provided an experience like no other, which will undoubtedly compel me to revisit this spot.

And on that note, dear readers, I leave you with this: Keep exploring. Keep traveling, even if it's just within the four corners of your city or town. There is always beauty waiting to be found.

Stay vibrant! Stay curious!

Very cool selection of StreetArt especially the wall with the statue in the middle. Very colorful, it looks like a Mexican work for El Dia de Muertos. Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a lovely day.

My pleasure 🤗
