Melbourne, a town of street art - Part 8

in StreetArt3 years ago

Okay so technically this is still Melbourne, but really this time we are exclusively in the inner city suburb of Collingwood.

Collingwood is know for it's industrial past, and then it's arts, and local music scene in the 80's and 90's feed by cheap rents and lots of empty warehouse spaces.

Of course as always happens they have all been priced out now, now it's the home of apartments, creative workers (read ad agency people) craft breweries and well, there is still a fair amount of art on the street so let's have a look at some

This absolutely looks like it's been sanctioned and there is nothing organic and outlaw about this huge piece which is down an alleyway, but there is something fantastically artist about it so you can't complain about that.

This is more my bag, layers of art piled one on top of each other, tags boasting against each other, and in the middle a long forgotten paste up, all with the accent of some dumped office furniture.

Or this one, again I'm sure sanctioned, it looks a little like a rone, but I doubt it is, maybe someone just in the style of, like a karoake song which is just far enough off to not breach copyright. I like how it interplays with the paste up on the building behind the wall, layers my friends, there are always layers.

And finally, found very much in the back alleys, in the forgotten parts, or perhaps more accurately those parts still wanted council approval and a favourable interest rate environment before being pulled down. But this is excellent, at least four different artists, some stencil stencil work and of course some good humour in this as well

I can't wait to check it out. We loved Sydney and Carins, but did not get to your neck of the woods.
