I did once put a projector on the wall in a Kindergarten and basically traced some scenes and characters onto the wall for painting. It was hardly art, but it was a good time. That's the closest thing I've done to a mural.

There you go! I'm sure it turned out fantastic, and the technique you used is valid. Certainly, it may fall more into the crafts category, but once you start playing around with it (combining two images, for example) it's only a small step away from becoming "art".
