Penhalluriack's aka pen's hardware is a hardware store located on Hawthorn road, Caulfield. In Victoria, Australia. I've driven past the site a few times recently for work and finally had the opportunity to stop and take these pictures. Cars in the way of my photos are becoming the bane of my posts lol.
These are the main part of the art piece, a series of faces of varying ethnicities located to the right hand side of the carpark entrance. The background fades from the harsh red of an Australian soil to a blue sky above, a colour palette naturally occurring in many parts of rural Australia.
It might not be evident in my photos but the detail on the circular water motif surrounding the faces is really well done.
To the left of the entrance is this motif featuring the intertwined hands of two different people. Again showing one darker and one lighter skin and keeping with the underlying theme of togetherness despite our physical differences.
Unfortunately I didn't see any artists tag or details anywhere and the only staff member I could find at the time didn't know who the artist was.
Overall an exceptionally impressive piece in both execution and theme.
Further around the building are these pieces of some geometric 3d form and a piece that read we are 1 with handprints and names around it. Although I would guess they aren't by the same artist it still keeps with the theme of the piece opposite.
Until next time,
Enjoy
