Last Invasion

in StreetArt2 months ago (edited)

If you've been following me for some time now you probably know that I fell in love with a particular street artists work when I was living in France. It was the street artist that goes by the name Invader.

Above not by Invader

Okay, "fell in love" might be a bit strong, but I needed to work in the photo above somehow so I'll just go with it. Lets just say that I really like Invaders street art.

Briefly for those new to the topic:

Invader is a French street artist that specializes in pixilated art pieces that are made up of colorful tiles. His work focuses mainly on the classic 8 Bit video game Space Invaders (hence the name) but he also creates works on other topics and themes - usually video game related. He sometimes creates pieces on other themes as well such as cartoons, classic video games, vintage pop culture and local specialties. The common theme among his work is that they are always in pixilated form.

Edit: I just learned that the piece below was also not created by Invader but another artist by the name of In the Woup. Thanks @heroldius for pointing it out and correcting me.

Mario Wizard seen in Bourges France

So anyway here are the last of the Invaders that I saw while living in France, starting with this little grey dude spotted near the Sacre Coeur Basilica in the Montmartre arrondissement of Paris.

Actually most of these were seen in the district, when my sister and I and then later, my wife and I, visited the area.

That area of the city has quite a few scattered around in different places.

It's a very artsy neighborhood so it makes a lot of sense to post your work there.

This next one below was an interesting find. I stumbled upon it in Paris and stopped to take a picture of it. When I brought my camera down I noticed two young kids in their early teens standing near the spot looking a little awkward and nervous.

I happened to look past them, down the narrow apartment lined street, and realized why. Their mom was literally bare assed squatting on the pavement peeing, while her husband stood guard. It was a bit odd to see in such a public place and all the more odd considering there is literally a cafe or restaurant on every corner of the city that she probably could have peed in. But when "you gotta go you gotta go" I suppose.

Another random one from the Montmartre district.

The last one was seen on our way to the Jules Verne restaurant in the Eiffel Tower.

The placement of this one is pretty incredible and smart in terms of marketing (for lack of a better word). Many folks taking a photo of the tower from this location will inadvertently take a picture of Invaders art without necessarily even realizing it. I consider that to be a smart strategy.

Okay, that's the last that I have of Invaders work and probably the last that I will see for a very long time since I no longer live in France. Thanks for stopping by and for checking out my post! Later everyone.

Very cool selection of works done by Invader. But on your first pic, I think this is In The Woup who likes to make Mario mosaic disguised as different characters 🤔 Thanks for sharing these pics on The StreetArt Community.

Have a great day

Yep, you are definitely right. I wasn't sure so thanks for pointing that out. I'll have to correct my post. Thanks again

I'm always amazed at how well you take architecture and street art photos, especially of things so high:)

Thanks. I appreciate that 😁

That is pretty cool, unobtrusive and like a treasure hunt as you traverse the city

Definitely like a treasure hunt. That's exactly how it felt looking for them. Like Easter eggs in the city.

Yup, good fun!

I was going to tell a joke about hominy.
But it was too corny.
