The time has finally come to say goodbye, and after announcing the end more than once, it has finally arrived. And while I have always tried to be as faithful as possible to the story of the game, I must admit that the ending I got was not the one I expected, so I will tell it in my own way.
In the previous chapter we woke up in a strange place after being captured by one of the temple's mechanical arms. Now, after exploring a bit, I have realized that I find myself in the very halls of Valhalla.

Although I had no memory of dying, there was no doubt that I was in the hall of the fallen, surrounded by the famous warriors of old.

Throughout the day they partied, and when evening fell, everyone would throw themselves into combat without fearing for their lives. If you were wounded or died during the fight, you reappeared again and again to join in the evening celebrations.

For a while, all was glory and joy, but little by little I felt that something was wrong, and every time I tried to talk to Sigurd, he avoided me.

When I finally managed to reach him to explain that everything was wrong and that this was not the real Valhalla, everything went black around me and a strange presence appeared before me.

At first I couldn't believe it, but it was undoubtedly Odin himself, father and king of the Norse gods. What I realized instantly was that he bore an uncanny resemblance to me, but he looked older than me.

His words reached my ears with only one aim and that was to make me stay in the fake Valhalla, but unable to convince me, he resorted to violence.

With no alternative but to defend myself, I responded to violence with more violence and there we engaged in an incredible combat. When all seemed lost, a door appeared before me that would take me to another side, but when I tried to cross it, Odin lured me towards him using my father's axe.

Once I let go of the axe, I could cross the door and finally wake up from that fateful dream. When I woke up, I found Basim with a dagger placed on Sigurd's neck and threatening me that I could finally take revenge.

Not knowing what was going on, I engaged Basim in combat to defend Sigurd and learn why he had pursued us and why he attacked us. And it turns out that Basim claims that he is the reincarnation of Loki and I that of Odin, who long ago murdered his son Fenrir, and that is why he should kill me to take revenge.

Honestly, I couldn't believe the crazy things I had heard, but for a moment I thought that if the visions of Asgard were not visions, then it would all make sense. Still, I confronted Basim and when I almost defeated him, he ran after Sigurd to take his life.

When I managed to reach him, he was about to slash Sigurd and, for a moment, I managed to distract him so that one of the mechanical arms could grab him and carry him to the fake Valhalla or elsewhere.

For a moment we breathed easy after returning to reality, but the bad news continued. My brother, friend and companion of almost a lifetime, informed me that he had no plans to return to the settlement and that he was leaving it in my hands, as he had found his way and did not want to live a simple Viking life.

His words gnawed at my soul, but I agreed to respect his wish and returned to the settlement, where a silence filled the faces of those I came across. Once inside the communal house, I explained to everyone what had happened and, although I understood that they suffered for the loss of their leader, among cheers and chants they recognized me as the new one.

And that's how one of the most entertaining stories I've experienced in a videogame for a long time comes to an end. And while I know that this is not the ending that many expected at the beginning of this saga of publications, I made it clear that what happened outside the Animus did not interest me and I hope you know how to respect my decision.
There may still be some way to go with Eivor, but I prefer to remember him like this: sitting quietly by a campfire, with a face that at times became sad and at times thoughtful.
