Alice: Journey Through the Valley of Death

Hello friends and video game lovers, I hope you're having a great day. As you saw in the thumbnail, today we continue playing Alice: Madness Returns, a game that has a lot to offer.

In the previous post, we left Alice about to escape the aquatic world she was in. We'll end this region by witnessing the play where the walrus eats the dancing oysters—a very grim and disturbing scene.

This scene will lead us back to reality, leaving Alice's mind to return to her gloomy Victorian city, this time more decayed than before, with challenging architecture and decor. We'll witness Alice's conversations with several important characters for the plot and face her feelings of loss for her rabbit, perhaps the only memory of her family, and something that ties her to reality.

Upon discovering the lawyer's office of her family, Alice will fall back into her fantasy world due to the constant questions raised by the strange conditions of her family's death, even blaming herself for the fire.

We return to Wonderland, now more decayed and inhospitable, full of insurmountable platforms, destruction, and corrosion left by the train in its wake. This reflects how deteriorated and broken Alice's mind is. The landscape is well-designed to convey all these feelings.

It is perhaps in this level that the game gives us its maximum expression of platforming and combat, with a good dose of action and puzzles. Extremely poetic is the name chosen for this section of the game, Valley of Death, perhaps marking the point of no return for Alice's fantasies and hallucinations. Another addition to the level is the acquisition of the last and most devastating weapon in the game, the teapot cannon, which will allow attacking several enemies at once.

For now, we leave the game here. Having surpassed the Valley of Death, it's time for a level with more apparent calm and tranquility, where Alice will receive a renewed wardrobe, and the entire setting will be inspired by Oriental culture, which will be an extremely shocking visual change. But that will be another post.

I hope you enjoy this journey through this chapter of Alice: Madness Returns and that my screenshots give you a deeper insight into this world.
