RE: What is Elon Musk’s X App?

in Cryptocurrency2 years ago (edited)

Like everything Elon hypes up, his X app, when it does launch, will probably not be as good as he is making it out to be. I understand (based on the things that have been said) that X will be what China already has in the form of WeChat. An all-in-one app that can do payments, social and other things.

It just sounds like centralisation to me. Everything in one place, at the cost of what? Privacy? Security? Freedom of choice? X sounds like a closed garden, the equivalent of what Apple does with its app store. And if this vision Elon has does come to fruition, then what? Nothing good comes from centralised monopolies.

And furthermore, China is a communist surveillance country. Everyone is monitored. Everything is tracked. WeChat makes it easier for the CCP to track its users, all of their information in one place. Convenient? Sure. But convenient for whom, the government or its citizens? China is about the worse model to copy when it comes to technology and ideologies. Nobody has a choice or privacy there.

Like everything Musk promotes these days, be very sceptical. His dreams are bigger than reality.
