Portfolio Creation Continued: Asset Allocation Analysis

Welcome back Hive-chain to another beautiful and wonderful day.

I have been looking forward to this part of the journey for a few days. In this post, I will be laying out the cryptocurrencies that have caught my eye, sort them into buckets according to the size of their market cap, then further break down the allocation of each bucket into percentages that I will be monitoring as the market moves.

I don't want to end up creating a wall of text posts that becomes more overwhelming than entertaining, so watch for my posts throughout the week. I will be doing an analysis of each of the currencies that I end up including in the portfolio and why I came to the conclusions about the coins.

Disclaimer
I am not a financial advisor. This is for entertainment purposes only. I do not make any claims that my decisions, analysis, or results were expected, were to be expected, or that they are sound investment advice. I take no responsibility for what you end up winning or losing and highly encourage you to perform your own due diligence before making any investments of your own or following my advice. If you choose to do so regardless I wish you the best and never invest anything you are not prepared to lose.

Which coins caught my eye!

Big Cap

  • BitCoin: This is a big player that everyone knows and loves. I believe BitCoin to be an integral part of every crypto investors portfolio
  • Etherium: This is the number two player in the blockchain world. There are many technical reasons including the use of smart contracts that I will go into later in the week, that make this beast a leader in the blockchain world and I believe will eventually overtake BitCoin as the industry leader.
  • Polygon: This is another crypto that caught my eye for technical reasons I will get into later in the week when I do a profile. I believe this will enable Etherium to stand above the rest of the industry. This project looks like a monster going forward if they can execute and have already won the status of big-cap despite only being founded in December of 2019

Mid Cap

  • Monero: A privacy-centered coin that uses an obfuscated public ledger, meaning anyone can send or broadcast transactions, but no outside observer can tell the source, amount, or destination. This is a popular coin among privacy advocates that has earned a reputation for a strong community. The profile I do of this coin will include my thoughts on it, but I feel it is a worthy addition as a mid-cap.

  • Solana: Solana is known in the cryptocurrency space because of the incredibly short processing times the blockchain offers. This is a Defi play that is looking very attractive to institutions and seems like it could be a winner. More details as to why I believe that later in the week!

  • Bit Torrent: Bit Torent has been known in the pirate community for as long as I can remember. The P2P file-sharing that it allows has been enhanced by incorporating blockchain technology to reward people who share and charge those users who consume in an exchange that naturally rewards participants. I look forward to seeing how this one plays out and will provide an analysis later in the week.

Small Cap

  • Sia Coin: You know how you can sync your devices by joining them together in the cloud? That's basically what Sia Coin is, but for blockchain data. Users lease their unused data storage to other users and are paid for and rewarded in Sia Coin. Done right, this seems like a great idea and I will have a profile on why I chose Sia Coin.

  • Ankr: With an increase in blockchain adoption brings a need for more computing power and nodes. Ankr aims to make it faster and cheaper to set up nodes and reward users and contributors with ANKR tokens. There is always going to room for more people wanting to share the compute resources and i feel this has a great long term perspective.

So what is the end game?

After sorting the coins that have piqued my interest into categories based on market cap, I will be dividing the allocation for each category among an even split to begin to ensure maximum diversity. Seeing as I am still newer to this, I believe that getting money into projects now and holding long will return positive results no matter what is chosen, and by having so many "seeds" there is an increased chance that there will be enough big winners to pay for the small losers.

Overall the breakdown will look like this

50% Big Cap

  • Bitcoin- 34%
  • Etherium - 33%
  • Polygon - 33%

25% Mid Cap

  • Monaro - 34%
  • Solana - 33%
  • Bit Torrent - 33%

25% Small Cap

  • Sia Coin - 50%
  • ANKR - 50%

This will be my beginning stage portfolio allocation. Like I said before, this is not financial advice, merely a reflection of my decisions as of yet. As gains and losses are acquired and more knowledge and experience earned, there will of course be fluctuations in allocations. I will be reviewing the portfolio on a regular basis and making trims, where I feel are needed, and over time will likely change my holdings.

With this post, I will be formalizing it into an initial investment strategy and submit to my client.

What do you think of this list?

Would you add anything different? Why?

Please share below and let me know what you think of this.

Until next time, stay beautiful Hive-Chain!

Polygon huh? That's a pretty high risk one. I'm pretty sure that it's useful in the short term but long term with ETH2.0 or other platforms it might just die off. We'll see.

Thanks for the response! I think Polygon has a lot of room to grow. Ill go into more detail as to why a little later this week!
