Poetry is a way of pouring out those strong feelings and emotions we have held within us, which may be difficult to express through vocal means. When love proves itself as difficult to express, poetry is a simple means of expression as we put down our thoughts and feelings on paper.
Love is beautiful, and capable of capturing a heart that proves difficult as a result of fear. In this season of love, I've decided to express my love for a being who has made me who I am today. He has freed me from the prison of self and from all the fears I hid within.
When love speaks, who dares to oppose? It is a feeling so intense and powerful, capable of moulding a soul into that vessel which he ought to be. When everything seem vague and obsure, love speaks kindness and grace as it leads one in a direction of clarity and understanding. When I thought I've lost everything, love brought hope and restoration. My poem goes thus:
Bound in the shackles of my pain
With thoughts of can I ever be free?
Trapped in this circle of misery
Can I ever come out of this?
Then one crossed my path
When I least expected
I can't find words to describe this being
Who has become a god in my heart
Your words are piercing through that special place I kept for no one
And within your gaze, I could sense a feeling of my safety
I can't get my eyes off you
The warmness of your warmth has freed me from those fears I held within
The loveliness in your voice sets my heart fluttering in my chest
Stay with me forever
This heart is longing for more of you
Oh! How it feels to be loved
I've finally found love
