A Roman Victory🧭⛰️ / Una Victoria Romana👩🏻‍🦯🌍 (En-Es)

in Dronelast month
The Romans were one of the most powerful and daring civilizations in the entire history of mankind, anything that refers to tactical combat and ambition probably some Roman already stood out for meeting those characteristics! But the Romans became extinct hundreds of years ago... However, their legacy continues to this day... Today I will do one of the hardest trails in the north of the country and even in all of Portugal, it is called: Roman Throne Pias", and it is that after completing this difficult walk you graduate as a Roman soldier.👩🏻‍🦯🌍

How to prepare for the trail👩🏻‍🦯🚩/Como preparase para el sendero🌎🧭

Vialongo has the most extreme trails in Portugal, it is a big city north of Porto and it is located between the middle of a valley and two mountain ranges called: "Midões e de Piás" if you read above it says the totality of the "precourse 30km", here you have a summary of how the walk is and the level of difficulty, to complete 30km in one day between the mountains you have to set a pace, you can't just go slow or night will catch you in the woods and it is very dangerous. The physical preparation depends on each one, I have a lot of experience and I have already walked 60 km in one day so I have enormous resistance! It is not a family walk and even less for people with physical disabilities. However you can see each throne individually by shortening the distance with a vehicle and walking a couple of kms.🧭👩🏻‍🦯⛰️

There is one of the highest points of the mountain and as you can see it is a pretty steep walk. The complicated thing about the walk is that it is a granite mountain and this type of geology is complicated because it releases many stones, and of course since it is sand and stones you can easily slip or twist an ankle by accident! However, it is not the most difficult or dangerous thing I did, in fact it is something that a person with little experience can complete. If you pay attention to the terrain and walk quickly you can become a Roman.⛰️🧭

Always in front👩🏻‍🦯🚩/Siempre en frente🌎🧭

Follow the signs🧭🚩

In each section of the walk you must follow the signs, these signs also indicate the difficulty of each part of the mountain, classified between 1 and 5 haha and it's crazy because everything is literally five xD, I didn't see anything easy here! We shouldn't waste too much time and always maintain our pace, I walked at 5.5km per hour, it's almost a jog, you shouldn't carry too much weight, plenty of water and snacks are necessary!🧭📸

I think that as a negative aspect I didn't like about the trail, seeing so many eucalyptus trees. There comes a time when the landscape becomes repetitive and boring. Luckily, the views of the different valleys of Vialongo save that monotonous landscape! But of course, not everything is negative. I managed to see three fairly large caves, but I didn't have time to explore them.⛰️🧭

Another thing I didn't like was that every hour someone on a motorcycle would pass by and that is very dangerous since it is a trail for walking or cycling and not for mountain bikes, so every time I heard one approaching I had to step aside and let them pass.🧭⛰️

This is the most difficult part of the trail when we have to climb the hills, the path is always quite steep and there are 150, 200, 300 meters uphill, there comes a moment where we push our body to the limit.🦿🦾

What a piece of landscape...👩🏻‍🦯🚩/Que pedazo de paisaje...🌎🧭

incredible, isn't it?🧭🚩

It is not just a very demanding walk that becomes "personal" just to sit on the Roman throne! It is also about knowing how to enjoy every step you take. When I saw a beautiful landscape I photographed it, otherwise how can I be a witness that Portugal is the most beautiful country in Europe?🧭📸

I am not one to give up easily and I am actually proud to say that I never give up on a hike! My determination is always like a Roman warrior's thought: win or die! Period... If you are like me then I challenge you to do this trail and deserve to be part of the Roman Centurion of "Vialonga".🌎🦾
