Incredible isn't it??? That these days you can even have internet in midst of the jungle?
What are you using for your internet connection btw? Pretty curious about that ;-)
I have a Starlink as a backup connection, which is working amazingly well...

So very much yes! It's glorious! We have a structure built out on the lava, called the dog house, with a giant antenna on top or it, and a mobile-broadband router inside it, that then connects via ethernet to the rest of the property. Since there is so much distance to cover, there are multiple repeater points with switches, which of course are also access points. I just hooked up internet to a new building yesterday. I actually want to get Starlink, as I've been hearing very good things about it! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

!DIY is certainly a very good tag to use here !INDEED :-) That sure does sound pretty amazingballs for sure!!! ;-)
I suppose that the area is naturally ill-covered by the mobile network (4G), but you're able to connect due to the big antenna?
Yes, the Starlink stuff really is good. Up until recently, it was way faster and more reliable than our coax connection. In the meantime they came to our house and replaced all the cables inside and outside, and now the coax connection is faster again. Yet, I still rely on the Starlink from time to time.

!DIY is how we do pretty much everything here, so yep, it's a very good tag for sure! It's certainly a very custom system! Yep, that's true, mobile coverage is still spotty out here, though it is way better now, as they've added more antennas. The broadband router used to connect to Verizon, then AT&T, and now it's on T-Mobile, which is surprisingly far faster and more stable than any previous networks. Our antenna connects to a T-Mobile antenna a few miles away. We may not even need the big antenna any longer, but it definitely doesn't seem to hurt!
That's so interesting about StarLink compared to your coax connection, and the shift in terms of which one is faster and more stable. Good hardline connections are still often faster. StarLink is a great backup in that case! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

!INDEED, using the Starlink mainly as a backup, or to work from the garden (luxury problem, I know) and for possible travel in the future. It’s mostly giving a 200-ish MBs speed, so not bad at all. But the optimized hardline is around 950 if all goes well :-) Pretty hard to beat that of course, unless you go to fiber connections.

I was thinking of getting StarLink just for myself, as I'd then be responsible for my own internet connection. I need more stable income, more evenly distributed through the year, for that to be fessible, though. 200ish is great, and far better than here. We top out around maybe 15 Mbps. 950 is very nice indeed, and those are the fastest speeds I've seen for coaxial. Ah yes, fiber...I had Google Fiber twice when I lived in Austin. It sure is head to beat! I figured out how to hack their system so that I could use my own router...hehe. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

!LOLZ !!! That is indeed also always the first thing I do !INDEED!!! Hacking their system so I can use my own routers :-D
Currently in Belgium they are rolling out Fiber to the homes. But still only in the bigger cities, and since we live in a very little rural village, it may still take a decennium or two :-D Besides, currently they still limit the fiber to 1Gb anyway…

Hahahaha...why oh why does that not at all surprise me?!? Yeah, I remember when they were rolling it out in Austin. I was waiting and watching, so I jumped on it when it first appeared in my area, and again when I moved. They advertised 1Gb symmetrical download and upload speeds. Practical application was often a bit less exciting, but it was still very good! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
