A couple of days ago, one of my FPV buddies called to invite me to fly with his friends at a spot not far from our place. I had to decline since we had a familiy visit and already planned a trip to the mountain ridge above the valley. However, I suggested we could meet in the air instead.
We exchanged coordinates and planned our aerial rendezvous. He flew his small flying wing from within the valley, while I launched my 7-inch drone, the GEPRC Moz7, from the top of the ridge. With his plane's longer flight time, he climbed up to my altitude so I could spot him easily before I started to follow his flight path.
I chased his plane as he circled around my launch spot, then followed him down into the valley to his "base camp" which was almost two miles away. Throughout our flight, we maintained a phone call to coordinate our paths. After circling his group, I headed back to my spot, mindful of my battery life. Since his aircraft had a longer endurance, he was able to follow me back once more before returning for his landing. It was undoubtedly one of the most intersting FPV missions I've ever experienced!
Enjoy the ride!
Awesome video, and loved seeing you following the flying wing. That's some great quality video and flight time from that little drone! I was expecting it was a much larger one.
Thank you! I was using two 6s Li-ion battery packs which give me at least 20 minutes of flight time. The plane of my friend could easily stay 40 minutes in the air.
Was the video from the built-in camera, or other mounted camera? Pretty cool how it has that gopro mount on top.
I only used the built-in camera of the DJI O3 unit. It has quite a good quality for its size, only the dynamic range is lacking in comparison to a GoPro. But the new O4 unit might bring some improvements.
