Once again we are back in Maple bay, like l have mentioned before, our captain will be leaving the the boat in about 24 hours, he will be gone for about 10 days and then returning. Then we/the crew will be leaving in about two weeks - l will be posting where and when exactly so stay tuned for the up coming posts;)
Lets get started eh:
Maple Bay:
Maple Bay is a charming coastal town nestled along the southeastern shores of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. With a population of just over 1,000 residents, it is a small, tight-knit community that spans approximately 5 square kilometers. To put its size into perspective, Maple Bay is about 1,000 times smaller than the country of Brunei, which covers around 5,765 square kilometers. Despite its modest size, Maple Bay is rich in history, natural beauty, and recreational activities.
The area has a deep Indigenous history, with the Cowichan Tribes, part of the Coast Salish peoples, having lived in the region for thousands of years. European settlement began in the mid-1800s, and Maple Bay became a popular spot for logging and fishing. Over time, it evolved into a peaceful residential and tourist destination.
Maple Bay is renowned for its stunning scenery. The bay itself is a sheltered inlet surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills, offering breathtaking views of the water and nearby islands. The area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with activities like kayaking, sailing, hiking, and birdwatching. The Maple Mountain Trail is a local favorite, providing panoramic views of the bay and beyond. The town also has a quaint marina, perfect for boating or simply enjoying the serene waterfront.
With its rich history, picturesque landscapes, and relaxed atmosphere, Maple Bay is a hidden gem that offers both tranquility and adventure.
Since the captain will be leaving the boat - unfortunately we won't be able to sail anywhere. This means l won't be able to show you the amazing places we go to, so l won't be posting as much as l used to;(
