Un abrazo a todos nuestros amigos de esta comunidad. Que la salud, la buena suerte y los recuerdos felices, sean la luz de todos los jueves y que esa luz sea tan poderosa que alcance a todos alrededor en esta y otras comunidades.
El idioma, los vínculos interpersonales, las artes y las aventuras, forman parte activa de mis recuerdos. Hoy quiero decirles acerca de un período que marcó mi vida. Un período enmarcado entre 1998 y 2016, tiempo en el que trabajé como miembro de un equipo de guías turísticos y traductores que viajábamos por muchos sitios de la geografía cubana. Hoteles. Playas, sitios históricos y lugares pintorescos, eran destinos permanentes en nuestro itinerario pero nada se comparaba con las visitas a lo más intrincado de nuestro archipiélago.
Las reservas naturales, los jardines botánicos y en especial, las comunidades ubicadas bien adentro, en las entrañas de Cuba, eran mis favoritas; para certificar aquella frase de Martí: " el arroyo de la sierra, me complace más que el mar." Y como recordar es volver a vivir, aquí les comparto un pequeño flash back de aquellos recuerdos.
Eramos un grupo muy variados en cuanto a edad, sexo, formación y preferencias, pero desde que comenzamos a trabajar juntos nos convertimos en una familia. Cada salida era una fiesta, aunque el trabajo fuera agotador, el sol intenso y el idioma de turno nos complicará a veces, nada empañaba nuestra alegría ni los deseos de servir y hacer bien a otros.
Recuerdo en especial una visita que hicimos a un maravilloso lugar nombrado " El valle de Caugerí" sitio profundo en el corazón de la provincia de Guantánamo, en el oriente cubano.
La Belleza natural de aquel lugar, las verdes y empinadas colinas coronados por la vegetación. Incluidas las plantaciones de frutales y café, además de densos palmares, cocoteros, algarrobos...
Aun permanecen en mi memo, con mucha intensidad, cada villa, cada casa de campesinos, cada base de campismo o cada lugar al que llegábamos con alegría y curiosidad.
Cada visitante extranjero así como cada miembro del equipo de trabajo nos fundiamos en una sola misión, aprender, agradar y divertirnos mientras ayudabamos a todos los que pudiésemos ayudar.
Las anécdotas y las canciones se amontonan en mi cabeza y me llevan de regreso a aquellos tiempos que, de alguna manera, han influido mucho en la persona que ahora soy. Les abrazo y cierro este flash back con una foto que recoge el momento en que gringos y cubanos, cantábamos juntos " la guantanamera " en el mismísima "valle de Caugerí"

The language, interpersonal ties, arts and adventures, are an active part of my memories.Today I want to tell you about a period that marked my life.A period framed between 1998 and 2016, in which I worked as a member of a team of tourist guides and translators traveling through many places of the Cuban geography.
Hotels, beaches, historical sites and wonderful places, were permanent destinations in our itinerary but nothing was compared to the most intricate visits to our country side.
Natural reserves, botanical gardens and especially, communities located well inside in the bowels of Cuba, were my favorites;To certify that phrase from Martí:
"The stream in the mountains, pleases me more than the sea." And as "remembering is to live again," here I share with you a small flash back of those memories.
We were a very varied group in terms of age, sex, training and preferences, but since we started working together we became a family. Each exit was a party, even if the work was exhausting, the intense sun and the language on duty sometimes complicated us, nothing tarnished our joy or desires to serve and do others well.
I especially remember a visit we made to a wonderful place ed named "The Caugerí Valley" deep site in the heart of the San Antonio town at the province of Guantanamo, in the Cuban Eastern.
The natural beauty of that place, the green and steep hills crowned by vegetation, including fruits and coffee plantations, in addition to dense palmars, coconuts, carobs ...
They still remain in my memo, with great intensity, every town, every house of peasants, each camping base or every place we reached with joy and curiosity.
Each foreign visitor as well as each member of the work team, we melt into a single mission, learn, please and have fun while we helped all who we could help.
The anecdotes and songs pile up in my head and take me back to those times that, in some way, have greatly influenced the person I am now. I hug you and close this flash back with a photo that collects the moment when Gringos and Cubanos, we sang together "La Guantanamera" in the very "Caugerí Valley"
