Every last day of August is special at Ramon's house. It is the day the owner of that house celebrates his day, his patron saint's day. On that occasion, neighbours and friends of this man, about whom I will tell you a few words, gather to enjoy this small but tasty party, always accompanied by a little concert.
I met him for the first time one summer night, in front of the town hall. My son and I had a musical performance at a social meeting that commemorated the victims of domestic violence in that town. We played voluntarily, we didn't charge anything, but it was a real honour for us to bring our musical notes to that square, in front of the town hall. Passersby stopped and paid their respects too to the victims; people lit candles and placed them on the sidewalk, stood in silence and listened to the music, as well as the text that a woman from the organization of this event read. It was truly emotional...
It seems that Ramon was also there with his wife. When we finished the performance, and while I was packing up the piano and my son was packing up his violin, he came over and said how much he liked our music and asked me if we would like to play in his home, in his garden to be exact, on that last day of August. That was a really nice surprise! We agreed to meet and talk about the details before that day would come.

And so it was. A week before the party, we visited them and it was more than nice and pleasant to get to know him and his wife better, with the cold lemonade they served us. So attentive and pleasant people... Ramon and his wife were both teachers, but are now retired. Now he paints and writes books, and his wife likes music. She told me that one of her dreams was to play the piano and accompany her son, who would play the violin. It was just her dream, as she had never learned the piano, but there we were, a pianist and her son, playing together. A coincidence, maybe.

The last day of August arrived. I had some work to do (prepare our instruments, the repertoire, outfit etc) but in the house of Ramon, the preparations were much more demanding. They had to prepare the place where we would put the piano so he also made a little improvised stage between the conifer trees. This was still in the phase of preparation.

The benches were also improvised, but no one fell while listening to the concert. Many people were also standing around and behind these seats.

As it was in the garden of the house, with trees and plants, I made a little tour through it. We could find figs, almonds and peacock feathers growing on the trees!

The peacock feather growing on the tree was just a joke. 😉 It was part of the decoration of the stage.
The party had three sections!
The first part was the reception of the guests where all the homemade cakes that Ramon and his wife prepared were presented and served! They baked all of these by themselves! I think I tried the majority of the sweets, well, we were all encouraged to try a bit of everything, and as good guests, we had to listen to our hosts! 😁 (what a shameless behaviour 😂)

The second part of the party was a surprise. When he invited the guests, his neighbours and friends, he said that we would give a concert but the surprise part was a presentation of the book he wrote. After the sweets we went there, to the stage, I started to play one piece and then, as we agreed, I slowly played it softer and softer and he started with the presentation of his book. It was made in a very spontaneous way! A real master of words, that is Ramon - everyone listened with full attention!

Our concert started after he finished with the presentation of his book and it was one of the most pleasant performances we had. Zero stage fright, just enjoyment. The guests loved all the pieces and sent back the same love as the music gave them.
Home-made sweets, a book presentation and a little concert - all this in one garden on a summer evening? I think it was worth remembering this event for this edition of Throwback Thursday.
If 3speak works, I will upload a short video, just a part of one piano solo piece by Ludovico Einaudi. Sorry - the upload didn't work, so without video. 🤷♀
Edit: link to video.
That's very well planning party, first I give you Sweet and you get happy , the show you my book while you are happy and in good mood jejeje and finish with beautiful music , that sounds perfect 👌😁 all in a nice family garden, nothing can go wrong with it 😂
Good job señorita mi piano de los dulces jardines 😁😂
It was indeed a good order of things, right?
Un saludo, y feliz viernes, señor Puma ;)
Happy weekend!! 🎊
Good morning, @piano. I already listened to the video, short, I was surprised to see so many people at Ramon's house, and listening to it has been a good way to start the day.
Happy weekend.
Yes, many people came to celebrate the evening in good company. Thank you for listening, I know it was short... and not of the best quality haha
It's a pity you couldn't upload the video, but I was reading and my feeling was... one word: Family.
What a great surprise to present your book on that occasion, they are moments of your life that you will never forget, the emotions are unforgettable. Love that peacock feather... coincidence? you will see in a few days because... nothing is coincidence in this life. Watch out for the trees, there's a witch behind them!
Family!! Family, which includes friends and neighbours, people who support you, that is indeed family!
That was not my book, but his book. :D
Yeah, it got stuck and never got to the encoding part even. So, now I uploaded it to YouTube and added the link to it at the end of the post. ;)
I know, I know, his book, from him. this translator ....
I saw the video! Beautiful!
A very pleasant memory, with so many sweets and cakes in addition to the literary surprise and the music, it is impossible to forget that summer afternoon.
I was left wanting to try everything. The peacock feathers are beautiful I had some tendrils with them that I loved.
I was very surprised when I saw the quantity of take cakes, and that they (he and his wife only) prepared everything! The peacock feathers have always fascinated me, so nice they are! 😇
So bad not to have the opportunity to see the video. Now I need to know who is Ramón. I would like to read his book!
I uploaded it to YouTube now and added the link at the end of the post if you want to see a not-so-good quality video hahaha, but that is what I have.
Ohhh that melody is so beautiful. ❤️
Good evening @mipiano, no jokes today. A very touching publication from the beginning to the end, even if there is as always a touch of humor. I hope you can upload that video, I'm already waiting for it.
Best regards.
Good evening @enraizar. No jokes today? ok, will try to survive the no jokes part hahaha. I added the link to the video, at the end of the post. 👋💤
I listened to the video, it gives me an idea of that evening. With a very attentive audience listening to the art of a great pianist. I have the feeling that I am doing the same thing for the second time: giving you an answer.
Thank goodness the weekend is here. It will be good for my mental health.
Happy weekend, @mipiano.
Of course it is worth bringing back that memory on this Thursday. It must have been a huge pleasure for all the guests to enjoy an excellent concert and a book presentation in that courtyard surrounded by nature. What a great way to celebrate a birthday and the homemade sweets...sin palabras!!!!!
😉 Yes, so tasty sweets and all the kind people that came made this evening be so pleasant. We were so pleased to meet him and his wife and get to know the activities they do/celebrate! 😌
It's a beautiful memory that not only made you think of music and... books? What is Ramón's book about, narrative or poetry?
I was telling you that it made my mouth water to see those sweets. But you know... If they're soft, no problem hahaha
He tells stories, he is a storyteller. It was about a little mouse, un ratolí como él dice (porque él habla valenciano) que vive en un consultorio dental, y también ha hecho él las ilustraciones.
Haha, some were really soft, for example Ous a la neu (Eggs in the snow) or Tarta de cabell d'angel (angel hair cake). And they like to drink cold, very cold, frozen lemonade - my throat "died" the next morning.
Omg 😳 jajajaja... Buen lugar escogió para vivir. Es muy grande lo suyo miss piano. El ratolí, me gusta... qué linda palabra. I saw the video.
I was thinking that you also have your paradise and if that wasn't enough, you give a lot of it away to others when you open the doors of music.
Ya es tarde, que descanses. 😄👋🏻
PS. From all that culinary work I eat it all...hahaha.... I had already seen the little signs on top of everything. Thanks for the translation. 😂
These garden gatherings with friends, sweets, and music are superb. I've seen some in movies in the Mediterranean area, where they look excellent because of the specific vegetation, the architecture, and the relaxed atmosphere of the guests. I liked that only homemade sweets were served. I was amused to see that they labeled the names of the cakes, and I liked that there was no barbecue. I am sure you have picked the best music to go with at this meeting. I think Ramon considers you friends, and his choice was determined by his wife's unfulfilled desire to sing with her son, as you do with your son.
It's such a beautiful event; it is impossible not to remember it with pleasure.
I also felt that Ramon and his wife considered us friends, they said any time we walk there we are welcome and invited. Well, later in the autumn we moved so that was the last time we were at their house, although we exchanged some messages later, full of gratitude and appreciation. Really nice people! And yes, the labels on the cakes! His wife told us how meticulous is he, everything was well-planned and prepared, all the days before the event, so on that evening they could just relax and enjoy the moment with the guests :)
Ah, I got it. Ramon lives in the town you left from. I understand you didn't move very far from there. Because if so, you'll probably meet again.
What a warm and loving atmosphere💕
Celebrating at Ramon's house sounds like a combination of art, generosity, and a beautiful family and thank you for sharing these beautiful moments, one feels like he was there with you.
Thank you, it was very nice, because of all the nice people that came and the great details that made the evening special.
How lovely it is that you're sharing these moments at Ramona's house with my family and the people you love most. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you. It happened last summer, and it was nice to remember about it today 😇
No doubt it was a beautiful experience, a great evening, I've never heard the piano live, I've seen it in movies, I love that sound, as a child I wanted to learn, but it never happened, things of life, beautiful photos, greetings.
The piano is a wonderful instrument, both to play and listen to. Thank you, I am glad you liked this event, greeting to you too 👋
Can't wait for the video. This feels like a beautiful performance and a wonderful time spent. The garden and arrangement looks beautiful. Welldone
WE indeed had a very, very nice time. Everything was spontaneous, but at the same time well prepared by the hosts :)
