I think it was yesterday when I got an email from BitStamp exchange, where they reminded me about the most important crypto moment in my life... The moment I bought my first Bitcoin! I have told the story before, but it's always nice to remind yourself and reflect on that day with "present goggles!" Perfect story for #TBF!

It was back in 2013 when a friend of mine told me the story about this important thing that will change the world! I had no idea about crypto, blockchain, about anything similar... Before that, there were some tryouts of creating some "GOLD" tokens, but they had nothing to do with the blockchain tech...
What was even more interesting was the story about the friend who told me about it... It was 2005-2006 when I opened a PC shop in my hometown, and he was running his for a couple of years before that... When you are a newbie, you have to fight for your "market cut", so he was one of the main "enemies" in those first years... After a while, a big franchise company came to our town and disrupted everything! They dumped prices as they had much more "trading volume" and better purchase price than anyone else in town, so we decided to put our misunderstandings on the side and create a joint venture... It was the only way to survive! And it was working!

But, the real challenge came in 2008, when the global financial crises came... Right a few months before the biggest hit, we invested a lot of money and opened additional stores in 2 different cities in the country... Of course, after just a few months, we were unable to pay expenses, and we had to cut our losses asap... In those days (like in bear markets), everyone was on the edge, discussions started, and my friend was pushed out from the company (but still, he sold his stake to another person)... To make things worse, I was one of those who had to cut the loose and push him out!
But, somehow, even after these "ugly moments", we still stayed friends, even more respecting each other! It sounds odd, but when someone says "burn your bridges behind you", I always remember this story and how the new bridges CAN BE BUILT! Despite being hurt (or hurting others) or some ugly events from the past...
Back to the "present story"... So, he was the guy who sold me my first Bitcoin, and as I had no idea of wallets, I created an account on Bitstamp and sent him my deposit address... I paid my first Bitcoin in cash! Peer to peer, baby! 😂

Long story short, I sold that BTC after a few months when I got scared that it will go to zero, like any other noob... lol... And not just that, in those moments, I told myself: "I will never come back to the crypto world!"
You know the rest... as here we are... 12 years after that, I'm living by/from/for crypto!
Thank you for your time,

Oh boy that must be tough to look at without considering all other factors! As bad as that would be the thousands of people who must have done the same, then forgot they did or lost the keys. I know one of those people. Doesn’t like to be reminded ;)
It has been great knowing you the 6 years on this blockchain and all the benefits that come with being here!
👍, you OG @ph1102 🙇
That's me when I get reminded of selling my BTC under $500 🤣
And thanks for your kind words... It's a pleasure hanging out with cool people on HIVE like you! 🍻🍷
I was in high school during that time lol, barely aware of the online world. Bridges can definitely be rebuilt, given the right circumstances. This reminds of a saying I heard from Bob Marley on "worst enemies" becoming "best friends".
That is a very valid statement! I suppose it comes from the RESPECT toward enemies... From that point, it's easy to build bridges...
Such an iconic moment. Imagine if you were a time traveller, or if time traveling were possible, you could easily be a whale on Hive at the moment, while having about 200 BTC chilling somewhere, you know..... the reward for being an OG lol.
No regrets... How about this fellow who sold you that BTC, I'm betting he's already financially free?
The thing is that I didn't have more money to invest in those days even if I wanted to do more... lol... Imagine that I bought 10 and sold... I would be pissed of even more... hahahaha 😂
And regarding my friend, he is more a speculator than HODLer... He was (and still) trading crypto, and his focus is more on helping others to buy or sell crypto for a small fee... Like he did 12 years ago, selling to me in cash... 😃
Wow, 2013! If only we knew, but it never happens... we just have to see the bright side and all the accumulated experience from those first steps. Cool story! !BEER
Hehehehe... If we only knew... Or just forgot to check out the price for the first 4-6 years... 😂 But, that's how we learn... I like to do things the hard(er) way... 😃
That was some very early bird right there :) Happy 1st BTC Anniversary!

Hhehehe... Thanks! If I just stuck to it and began to build without taking a 4-year break, that would be even more awesome...
Wow how much did you pay for that BTC? Haha. I think I first bought BTC in 2019.
!LUV
I can't remember exactly, but I checked the price now... It was between $200 and $250... 🤦♂
Nice!

Congratulations on the anniversary! Great to see you stacking sats for 12 years!
Unfortunately, I had a long break between 2013 and early 2017, so I didn't stack them in those days... 😃
It's good that in hard moments you have remained friends, usually money issues breaks friendship
That's true... I have another story that finished exactly as you said... Money destroys friendships...
When I experience some loss at the market, pizza comes to my mind and 22.05.2010. 🙂
Hehehehe... That's a good reminder, too... For me, it's not personal so it doesn't hurt that much... 😂
Better that you sold it for $500 than that you forgot your password or lost your keys 🙂
Only positive 😁
I just checked the price in those days... It was actually around $200-$250... 🤦♂ 😃
An interesting story mate! If look from the other side of the glass, it is just 1 BTC, well it might have been much more 😄😮
Hehehehe... Lucky for me, I didn't have money to buy more back then... 😂
Sometimes, it's good to be poor... 🤣
How much BTC now you hold ?
I'm not comfortable sharing this information in public... 😃
The best answer would be, not enough... 😂
😀
Happy anniversary, and it's an interesting story. I guess we can always get scared easily, and its too bad that you didn't keep that BTC from the past.
I think FUD hit everyone... at least once, but probably more than that... 😃
