It's hard to believe that it's almost 3 years since my niece surprised my husband with this little girl, Mika. She flew her all the way from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and hand delivered her to us here in western, New York. I thought this would be a nice post for #TBT as it holds a lot of emotional memories for us both.
I have been going through umpteen files on the windows 7 PC and saving the favorites to a USB stick. I knew it was only a matter of time before I had to replace it with a new computer. With so many outdated drivers, and the fact that it was over 15 years old, it was time.
This is Katie holding Mika in the pet store and asking me if I thought my husband would love her. Well, what do you think happened when she showed up on the back porch almost 3 years ago?
Yep, he sobbed like a baby. He had been so lost when our dog passed away and Katie new it was time to bring some life back into his heart.
Here are the two of them playing on the lawn.
She was a little spitfire right from the start and as stubborn as can be. It has taken a lot of patience raising a puppy at our ages, but I can't imagine our home without her now.
She was so tiny and fluffy and loved to be outside on the porch or pulling out the flowers in the gardens.
Once we started grooming her every month, most of her brown hair disappeared. I find that odd, but what do I know about dog hair, lol.
She still loves to sit on my lap or floor watching tv during the afternoons.
Her favorite pastime is dragging out every single play toy and having us toss them across the room.
This happens at least 3 - 4 times throughout the day. She keeps my husband busy as her constant playmate.
Here is a look at what the floor looks like after a session. The only thing we can't get her to do is pick them all up and put them back in her toy box.
At night the floor becomes a mixture of toys and chew bones scattered about. Having a young dog reminds me of what it was like raising a toddler, well even a teenager, right?
The new computer has arrived, and I finally finished clearing the hard drive of 15 years' worth of photos, documents, and info I saved on the old one.
I love the fact that the new one is so compact compared to the huge tower I had all these years, and it is quiet too.
I transferred a lot of the files from the hard drive backup I had and now I have my favorites on the new PC. I'm still trying to navigate windows 11 which is a lot different than the windows 7.
Now I can start all over again creating folders of new memories that I can share with all my Hive friends. At least I can do it faster now and without the computer crashing or freezing often. Whoohooo for the major update that was way overdue. See you all soon and have a wonderful weekend.
Until next time, this is Sunscape
Sun. Scape. Ing Your Day
If it is still properly working, then it is no actual need to replace it. Some of my friends are using much older computers. Sometimes me too, but currently I do not have any PC, nor laptop.
By the way, Hive and the applications on it, for example Ecency is probably a good backup for your photos.
I know that the photos are not uploaded to the blockchain in this case, but the applications still provide a good backup.
I document my life for years on Hive.
And of course, it is better to upload the photos to multiple places. Both to the internet, and to local, physically available storages (hard drive, SSD, SD, USB pendrive, CD/DVD, etc).
And if a photo is very important for you, then it is better to have in a physical format too (get it developed, or print it, and frame it).
Thank you for the great advice for saving my photos. I do have the most important ones on a hard drive backup and on my phone too. Plus, usb thumbdrive. The rest I have been deleting as I had many thousands of photos to go through. I prefer working on a desktop than my phone or tablet, it is just so much easier for me. Thanks for taking the time to share this info with me @xplosive. ♥

WOW 😲! Look at the way you play with this beautiful dog. I like your dog. It has such a beautiful face.
Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much. We do love her in our lives.
So Sweet!!! Mika was (and she is) a very beautiful princess! ❤️
You're so kind, Silvia. We do love having Mika to share our days with us.
Nice computer! I also had a new laptop earlier this year. My old old was almost ten years old.
Mika was very lovely and precious as a little puppy. It’s amazing how our pet could make life more fun and enjoyable. Mika has so many toys! My cats don’t know how to play with toys! 😂
Yep, it was time to get a new desktop and Mika does have tons of toys and bones. lol my cat Chej'u doesn't know how to play with toys either. Funny!
I couldn’t get my cats to play with boxes either. The toys I bought for them became useless too! 😂
Well, at least you tried. My cat will jump into a box for a few minutes. lol

What a tender TBT, I remember when I lost my 2 dogs, it was devastating for me as the oldest one was 18 years old with me and the other was a puppy just 3 months old... they got sick and died in less than 2 weeks 😞...
Bringing in this new pet was a good move, she is beautiful and I know from the pictures how much your husband has enjoyed her. Your new PC looks great, hope you enjoy it and more to bring content like this to Hive 🙌😀💛... A hug 🙏❤️... You Rockkk!!! 👍😎🔥📸🐶❤️
Thank you so much, @fernanblog. It is always devastating losing our furry companions. Mika came at the perfect time, and she fills our days up with so much joy and unconditional love. So sorry to hear you lost both of your dogs in such a short time. That had to be so heartbreaking for you. ♥
I'm still running win 7 and will do so until I am dragged kicking and screaming to the next level. I did the same with my XPPro, going to 7 when it REALLY started to fail. it's too hard learning a new system and not having my husband to fix things...
I hear you! I held off as long as I could, but it just kept slowing down and freezing on me. Sometimes, it did not even want to reboot, sigh! Windows 11 is a lot different than 7, but I am working my way through it. I still am trying to get used to the Apple one my son sent me. Totally opposites, my mind whirls trying to do different tasks. lol Light snow fell overnight and still freezing temps. At least some sun comes out here and there. ;-)
