Hello #Hive❤️
It’s been quite a while since we last shared an update, but we want to assure you that we’re still working very hard on this project. The reason we haven’t posted anything recently is that we encountered some setbacks. These #challenges required us to make some adjustments to our plans and approach so that we could keep moving forward toward our goal. Even though we had to take a step back and re-evaluate some things, we are still fully committed to this project. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through these issues and strive to achieve our objectives. Your support means a lot to us!
In this article, you will find a detailed update on the current status of our project. Over the past month, we have experienced a series of ups and downs, and we want to share all of these with you. We’ll discuss the challenges we faced, the #progress we made, and how we overcame obstacles along the way. We believe it’s important to keep you informed about every aspect of our journey. Additionally, we will outline the next steps we are planning to take to keep our project moving forward.
Classroom
As you all know from our last update, we’re thrilled to announce that the classroom has been fully renovated and is now ready for use. The #renovation process involved several important steps to transform the space into a bright and welcoming learning environment. First, we scraped off the old, dirty green paint from all the walls, which was quite a task. After preparing the surfaces, we repainted the walls white, applying three coats of paint to ensure a clean and fresh look.
In addition to the walls, we also painted the window frames in a stylish grey color, which complements the new white walls beautifully. This has given the classroom a modern and appealing appearance.
We didn’t stop at just #painting. The electrical system in the classroom was thoroughly checked and fixed, and we added new light tubes to ensure the room is well-lit and suitable for studying. These improvements have made the classroom brighter and more conducive to learning.
To enhance security, our team worked diligently on securing the doors. We installed extra #security hinges and added two new locks to make sure the classroom is safe and secure when not in use.
The results of these renovations are truly amazing, and we are more than happy with the new look of the classroom. It’s now a bright, secure, and inviting space, perfect for the #students to enjoy their lessons and activities. We are excited for the kids to start using the newly renovated classroom and are confident that they will love the improvements as much as we do.
Computers
One of the most crucial parts of our project was obtaining laptops or #computers so the kids could log in to Hive and post articles or other content. This was a top priority for us because having access to computers is essential for the kids to participate fully in online activities and learning. After a long search and considering various options, we finally managed to purchase two computers that are powerful enough to meet our needs.
These computers are not just for basic browsing; they are capable of handling more demanding tasks like watching #videos and participating in video calls, which are important for the kids’ #education and online engagement. We were able to get two refurbished Dell Core i5 4th generation computers. Each of these computers comes with 8 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 500GB HDD, providing ample memory and storage for the kids to use various #applications and store their work.
In addition to the computers themselves, we received 17-inch HP monitors, keyboards, and mice with each computer. This complete setup ensures that the kids have all the necessary #equipment to start using the computers right away. The 17-inch monitors are a good size for both viewing content comfortably and for doing their schoolwork.
Surge Protector
Blackouts have been a regular part of life in #Venezuela since at least 2010. These power outages happen frequently and can cause various problems, including the risk of damaging electrical devices. We are particularly concerned about the potential damage to the new computers in our classroom due to these blackouts. To minimize this risk and protect the computers as much as possible, we decided to purchase a #surgeprotector.
A surge protector is a device designed to shield electronic equipment from sudden spikes in electrical power, which can occur when the power comes back on after a #blackout. By installing this surge protector, we hope to safeguard our computers from any potential harm caused by these power surges. This will help ensure that the computers remain in good working condition and can be used by the students without interruption.
Paint
As we mentioned in our last update, we had plans to paint a #MoneroChan illustration on the classroom wall. We’re excited to share that we finally have all the paint needed to bring this artwork to life. This has been a highly anticipated project, and we’re thrilled to see it moving forward. Initially, we didn’t have enough funds to purchase the paint, but thanks to the generous support from the #community, we made it happen.
We received tremendous help from several key contributors. @juliakponsford, along with the @nftshowroom community and the @alienarthive community, played a crucial role in this effort. Their contributions were invaluable, and with their support, we managed to gather just enough HIVE to buy all the paint and supplies needed for the MoneroChan illustration.
The #illustration will add a vibrant and inspiring element to the classroom, making it a more engaging and enjoyable place for the kids. We believe that this artwork will not only beautify the space but also inspire creativity and enthusiasm among the students.

Beamer, Webcam and Speakers
Purchasing a #beamer, #webcam, and #speakers was not originally included in our list of expenses, but we quickly realized that these additional items were essential for enhancing the quality of our online lessons. Understanding the importance of these tools for effective learning, we decided to go ahead and buy them.
The main reason we acquired a beamer was to improve the online learning experience for the kids. With the beamer, the students can now sit comfortably in the classroom and watch the teacher speak to them on a large screen, making the #lessons more engaging and interactive. This setup allows the teacher to see all the students in the classroom as well, creating a more connected and interactive learning environment.
To ensure that the projected image from the beamer is clear and visible, we need to manage the lighting in the room. Since there is a significant amount of light in the classroom, we will cover all the windows with trash bags whenever there is a class. This will darken the room sufficiently, enhancing the visibility of the screen and ensuring that the students can see the #teacher and the lesson content clearly.
The addition of the webcam is equally important as it allows the teacher to see the students, fostering a more interactive and engaging online learning experience. The speakers ensure that the teacher’s voice is clearly heard by all the students, enhancing #communication during lessons.
Even though these items were not part of our initial budget, we believe that investing in the beamer, webcam, and speakers was a crucial step to improve the educational experience for the kids.
Internet
From the beginning of this #project, we knew exactly which internet provider we wanted to work with. However, one of the challenges in #Venezuela is that things are constantly changing, and advertisements can often be misleading. Initially, the internet provider we selected was unable to deliver internet service to the school area, forcing us to restart our search for a suitable provider.
After some effort, we successfully found a reliable company named "Galatea." However, their prices were significantly higher than we had anticipated. #Galatea quoted us $71.69 per month for a 15 Mbps connection. The only reason we considered their service was that they sent technicians to the school to assess the internet availability and quality, ensuring that they could indeed set up a reliable internet connection at the school. However, the high monthly fee, combined with the relatively low speed of 15 Mbps and an additional setup cost of $286.75, made it a very expensive option for us.
Given these financial constraints, we continued our search for a more affordable solution. During our search, we discovered a company called "Fibex," which offered an impressive deal of $40 per month for a 60 Mbps connection. This offer seemed almost too good to be true, especially given the stark difference in pricing compared to Galatea. While we were hopeful about this offer, we were also cautious, fearing it might be too good to be true.
We decided to contact #Fibex and expressed our interest in their service. However, for the past two weeks, we have not received any responses to our messages from Fibex, leaving us in a difficult position. With Fibex unresponsive, we are back to considering the more expensive option with Galatea.
This situation has set us back not only by the potential $300 in additional costs but also in terms of time, as we now need to secure extra #funding. The only way we can raise these additional funds is by writing articles and hoping they receive enough votes to generate the necessary income.
The delays and increased costs are challenging, but we remain committed to finding a viable internet solution for the #school. We are determined to overcome these obstacles and ensure that the students have access to reliable internet, which is crucial for their education and online learning opportunities.
Nahupuku
You can’t imagine how much effort @nahupuku is putting into this project. He is so dedicated that he even uses time that he should spend at his regular job to help with the project, and this dedication almost cost him his job. We certainly don’t want to make things harder for Nahu, so we have decided to slow down the pace a bit and give him more flexibility in deciding when he can #contribute to the school project.
We have agreed that Nahu will focus on the school project every Friday, and we will adhere to this plan to ensure he has a manageable schedule. However, the challenges didn’t end there. Nahu’s medical condition has also affected his #health, adding to his difficulties. #Financially, this situation is extremely challenging for him.
If it weren’t for Hive, Nahu would struggle to cope with the tough conditions in #Venezuela. Hive has been a critical support for him, providing some relief in these difficult times. Despite these setbacks, Nahu remains committed to the project, and we deeply appreciate his dedication and hard work.
We want to make sure that Nahu’s contributions are sustainable, so we’re making these adjustments to support him better. We’re incredibly grateful for his efforts and the sacrifices he’s making for the project. We will continue to support Nahu and work together to ensure the success of the school project, while also taking care of his well-being.

What is Next?
Our main focus right now is to #raise the additional $300 needed to set up the internet connection and cover one month of service. Here's how we plan to achieve this goal:
We currently have 150 liquid HIVE and 37 HBD, which amounts to approximately $90. Additionally, we have $100 available with Nahupuku. We are also in the process of a powerdown, which provides us with about 40 HIVE per week. We are optimistic that this article will perform well and help boost our funds. If everything goes according to plan, we should be able to gather the necessary funds within the next 3 to 4 weeks.
Furthermore, we have our ongoing Hive Art #contest. To be honest, we haven’t had the time to fully focus on it yet, but we are hopeful about its potential. This Friday, @Nahupuku will be visiting the school to check on the number of participants we have so far. We are keeping our fingers crossed that we have at least 10 participants.
In addition to these efforts, we are exploring potential partnerships to secure funding for all our future projects related to #web3 education. We are in discussions with several contacts who might be interested in supporting our initiatives. This could provide a significant boost to our ongoing and future projects.
By combining these efforts, we aim to secure the funds needed for the internet setup and continue to support our educational goals. We are committed to making this project a success and ensuring that the students have access to the resources they need for their education.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement. We will keep you updated on our progress and any new #developments as we work towards achieving our goals. Your support is invaluable to us, and we are confident that, together, we can overcome these challenges and create a better learning environment for the students.
