Siempre he comentado que dentro dentro de mis videojuegos favoritos, hay un lugar especial para toda la saga de Legacy of Kain.
La historia completa es cautivante y el desarrollo de los personajes se realiza de una manera tan bien elaborada que los que parecían villanos al inicio, terminan siendo héroes.
Legacy of Kain es un juego que, a pesar del tiempo y de que no se volvió a sacar continuación, tiene un fandom apasionado que se resiste a dejar en el olvido la historia y se mantienen siempre muy activos.
Sin embargo, dentro de toda la saga, hay un par de juegos que no tuvieron mucha receptividad y uno de ellos fue Blood Omen 2.
En este juego, se relata cómo un joven Kain, después de ser vencido en batalla por el Némesis y casi morir, regresa para retomar sus posesiones, vencer a su enemigo y consolidar su imperio en Nosgoth.
Suena interesante. Además, el diseño de personajes es bastante atractivo considerando las limitaciones que tenían los videojuegos de la época. Sin embargo, a la gente no le gustó mucho cómo fue mostrado Kain en este juego.
El Kain del resto de la saga es seguro, decidido, despiadado y sin corazón. O lo amas o lo odias. No hay punto intermedio. Es un personaje que con sólo presentarse, ya transmite temor a sus enemigos y sabes que ganará como sea.
El Kain de Blood Omen 2 tiene una conducta más arrogante e incluso inmadura. Se podría decir que es producto de la poca experiencia que tenía en su vida como vampiro.
Sin embargo, esta nueva perspectiva de Kain no caló bien con el público que ya había conocido su otra faceta y no les parecía propio de él esta nueva actitud.
Yo me divertí bastante con el juego. Tiene diálogos interesantes y retos que mantienen la emoción durante la travesía de Kain buscando a su enemigo. Y sí, después de haber jugado los otros juegos con un Kain más maduro, se ve algo extraño su forma joven, pero si uno se pone en el contexto de lo que ocurre y la línea de tiempo, es disfrutable.
Así que había hecho un sketch de él. No lo había coloreado. Tomé algo de tiempo para hacer la versión a color.
Como el lineart fue hecho a lápiz y no quería rehacerlo a tinta, usé brochas de lápices de acuarela y crayones para que luciera más al estilo del arte tradicional, un poco alejado del estilo anime que siempre me gusta usar para las ilustraciones.
Les debo las capturas del proceso. Pensé que había activado la opción de grabar y me dediqué a colorear sin hacer capturas manuales y cuando me di cuenta, no lo había hecho.

I have always commented that among my favorite video games, there is a special place for the entire Legacy of Kain saga.
The whole story is captivating, and the character development is so well-crafted that those who seemed like villains at the beginning end up becoming heroes.
Legacy of Kain is a game that, despite the passage of time and the lack of a sequel, has a passionate fandom that refuses to let go of the story and remains very active.
However, within the entire saga, there are a couple of games that did not receive much reception, and one of them was Blood Omen 2.
In this game, it tells the story of how a young Kain, after being defeated in battle by the Nemesis and almost dying, returns to reclaim his possessions, defeat his enemy, and consolidate his empire in Nosgoth.
It sounds interesting. Additionally, the character design is quite appealing considering the limitations of video games at the time. However, people didn't like how Kain was portrayed in this game.
The Kain from the rest of the saga is confident, determined, ruthless, and heartless. You either love him or hate him. There is no middle ground. He is a character who, just by appearing, instills fear in his enemies, and you know he will win no matter what.
The Kain from Blood Omen 2 has a more arrogant and even immature demeanor. It could be said that it is a product of the little experience he had in his life as a vampire.
However, this new perspective of Kain did not sit well with the audience who had already known his other side, and this new attitude did not seem characteristic of him.
I had a lot of fun with the game. It has interesting dialogues and challenges that keep the excitement during Kain's journey in search of his enemy. And yes, after having played the other games with a more mature Kain, his youthful form looks somewhat strange, but if you put it in the context of what is happening and the timeline, it is enjoyable.
So, I had made a sketch of him. I hadn't colored it. I took some time to make the colored version.
Since the line art was done in pencil and I didn't want to redo it in ink, I used watercolor pencil brushes and crayons to make it look more like traditional art, a bit different from the anime style that I always like to use for illustrations.
I owe you the screenshots of the process. I thought I had activated the recording option and I focused on coloring without taking manual captures, and when I realized, I hadn't done it.
