How many times have we heard this?
Somebody gets flagged, and cries censorship. "It's not censorship, all the data is there". Its a "front-end" issue. And recently I became aware how tricky that is when I talked to @asgarth about solving my specific problem.
But before we dive in, seriously? How has this not been done before and already open source? We'll get there....
@jelly13. What can I say. I'm not sure how he'll feel if I say friend, but I can say that its a user I have grown to respect and value quite a bit.
If I had to put a finger on it, probably I would say when he fined tuned my binomial distribution model of gerbers game for fuzzy probability; honestly one of my top 10 experiences on HIVE, I learned so much.
Maybe you would like to take a look?
The false positive case has always haunted me. I have been personally attached to a few of them. But never anyone so hardy and rugged as jelly.
Ecobank Roadmap Conclusion post that I went out to seek additional upvotes for it. It was the third part in the series, and this was THE FIRST comment on HIVE that actually answered and addressed my concerns in all three of the posts. Shocking right, that engagement farming is worse than worthless to me on a corporate post?In fact, recently @jelly13 provided the most valuable comment on my
How do you think that turned out?
Yeah.
I don't even blame the guy, @usainvote probably at least half automated, seeing a -14 rep user getting big votes on a comment. "comment is hidden". Boom. Zero rewards. @jelly13 don't care, my curation is bruised.
It doesn't matter that the comment was exactly what I was asking for in my post, that it was 233 words long or that it provided 100x the value of any number of actifit posts put together.
Seriously, it doesn't matter. This actually is, and always was - a front-end problem.
So I went to the front-ends. After unmuting on chain 10 times, making @jelly13 a member of my community, unmuting both user and comment a few more times to see ..... nothing.
Then I talked for probably 30 minutes with @asgarth over the course of a week. But what if its porn?
I became quickly aware of the real issue. Peakd is an "everything app", my personal favorite. But for somethings, sharing isn't easy, in fact as @asgarth said:
I need much more code to handle that
False positive is an edge case, by definition. Sure if we "scale" then there will be a lot more of them. But its been poking at me for a long time that one of our struggles with scaling is that we try to force naturally rebellious people (why else would they be here?) to share a same "front end".
As I said to someone recently:
These are tools of freedom. But its not freedom from viciousness, instead freedom to establish protocols by which we can live in a world with vicious people.
Here comes the spam
Actually, I think this is quite clever. A front end that doesn't show rewards. Any "monetization" or "demonitization" can happen out of view (AS IT DOES ON YOUTUBE AND TWITTER, you know actual social medias that people use).
Who would use this? Well I have a few ideas actually, but let's talk about "the rebel".
The rebel thinks his content is actually valuable - so he would invest extra time (github repo) or money (premium tool) to have his content VISIBLE.
See the trick? Scammers don't actually think their content is valuable! The rebel self selects and MAYBE, just maybe, over time "something" can be worked out.
Who is this guy that you are shilling?
Just an internet guy, who got in a fight about (in my humble opinion) "european politics". If I got downvoted to oblivion every time I fought about "politics", I wouldn't have any alts left, and maybe @jelly13 knows within an order of magnitude just how many that really is.
I got blanked downvoted by Haejin once, way back in the flag wars, ironically for "defending him" in an adult in the room middle ground way that he probably just skimmed.
I started posting 9 days later again.
Here is my situation. I am "kind of a big deal" in my own head, mostly because I cannot always articulate "in real time" to the common man everything I am doing. Explaining it is another job!
To see my corporate post get treated this way, by the front-end, makes it clear to me that peakd is not, and will not be EVER, a corporate website.
ECOBANK needs a site that hides all the politics. And frankly, monetization. Because that would be "professional".
I need this tool anyway.
So let's start a discussion about false positives, and rebels. Because this is going open source.

Who is Ed?
I love Hive.blog because it is simple.
I just want a place to write and read comments and answer comments.
It's not ugly.
It's easy to use.
It's clean.
Not cluttered by too many clicky things.
IDK if the post shows amounts voted on per post but tabs would be nice, if done right, to see my friends feed from my page instead of clicking over to another page.
that is all I want.
Why I love Hive.blog.
The End.
Oh and Love YOU. You will always be "a BIG deal" in my heart.
Love,
Mom

That's me AlohaEd. I'm Edwin or Ed. I made the account when I was living in Hawaii.

:D
I only asked because I was joking with Ecoinstant cuz his father might have the same first name as you do. I my head it was funnier then .......... well, someone who would not know I usually am joking when writing comments just to get a reaction from my son...... and the more important his posts are the more I don't understand them so this way he knows I read it, kind of, and left my mark saying I was here :D
Anyway! Nice to meet you, Edwin!
For the life of me I cannot find any reference to any ed, including @alohaed in this post!
There wasn't. I was reading your comments because sometimes I learn more from the comments then your posts :D
You know you love me!
Gosh what a smart lady you are!
A simplified, personalized interface to deliver the authors content in a branded context?
With the textual portion of the content residing on the Hive Blockchain, (along with metadata).
Would the interface allow for commenting or upvoting?
An interface is a window to data on the Hive Block, it seems like it would not be overly complex, to build useable filters for customized portals like this. Am I oversimplifying the complexity of the code required?
You are not Ed! This is low hanging fruit and what you are talking about, like whether to display or allow comments, or votes, can be config'd by the user on site set up. There is a lot to do still, as they say, but honestly 50% is making it not so ugly.

I like the 'hive at double digits' part!! 👊😎😉🤙
Gotta love jelly man
You only start to realize and see censorship problems once you live through them yourself.
That's why I don't really understand all the big deal about it, because I have never felt real censorship on my own skin, but I do support those who strive towards it.
Of course it's a fact that if an app is used by humans, it's much simpler and new users tend to use it at first because everything is clear and it's easy to post and comment.
I think the frontend censorship is worse than a lot of us realize. A lot of the people that vote/comment on my comments get censored. They will show up on the post/comment but I will not get notified. The @ecotheexploiter has a rep of 44 and I don't get notified that he commented or voted on my comment. I don't understand why. It would make some sense if the rep was 0. I have to look at the post, if I remember, to see if their is a comment. That is the only way I know. (Edit: I receive comments only with keychain for you but no votes notifications)
The censorship problem has lead to a frontend creator, to spam the network with peoples financials, all the way back to the beginning of HIVE. All because their AI content is not allowed to exist. Half of their posts get censored on their frontend. Which doesn't make sense. (Edit: don't receive anything for this guy but that could be low rep and spam)
The way things get censored is very strange. Like the comment will exist but the post wont or vise versa. I come across a lot of broken links. I'm glad you crated a tool that that you can access those broken links and if I come across a link that doesn't work I will let you know.
Censorship becomes real obvious when you go to more than one frontend. And I am not talking about when a frontend is only accessing specific tags.
