A new month means a new @yourtop3 contest over on the Hive platform. And the topic this month is coming full circle, and ending the contest (or as I prefer to think of it, taking a bit of a hiatus so Q can recover from all the ice cream sampling from last month) with the topic of our top 3 Favorite Oscar Winning Movies.
Considering that (according to Wikipedia) as of March 2016, there have been a total of 1,239 films, this should be a piece of cake, right?

Once again, I decided to go with a theme in the hopes of narrowing down my choices. But which one to pick? There's favorite fantasy movies (all of the Lord of the Rings & The Matrix movies, or Avatar, would work), or horror (An American Werewolf in London), or films shot locally to my home town (Manchester by the Sea, Captains Courageous). Then there's comedy (Beetlejuice, My Cousin Vinny, Death Becomes Her), geek favorites (Logan's Run, Men in Black, The Dot and the Line - yes, it's only a ten minute short, but it made the Wiki list, so... 🤔 ), sentimental favorites (Little Miss Sunshine, Purple Rain, Shrek). And given that this is potentially the last ever contest round, I considered doing of list of faves that never fail to made me cry (Big Hero 6, Up, and The Abyss were the first three on that list).
But rather than ending on a maudlin note, I decided to go the opposite route and pick three Oscar winning movies that give me happy dance vibes! Oh, and since a short time ago, @fionasfavourites published hers, called Last dance..., I might not be the only one with this theme (although knowing her post will most likely be given the usual "Fiona Treatment" it could be something completely different... 😂 ).
So without further adieu Q 😭 ado...
My Top 3 Favorite Oscar Winning Movies
Nomination 1 - Flashdance

REASON
The movie that launched the question, "is that really how girls take their bras off?" 🤣
I'm sure I've mentioned about a gazillion times that I took ballet from the time I was five years old, until I hit puberty and my dance teacher took issue with the fact I sprouted both hips and boobs was thirteen, so the story of oddball girl wants to go to ballet school hit a special note for me. While I still cringe a bit at how obvious the dance body doubles are, the movie overall has enough awesomeness to easily overcome it.
And the answer is, "yes." For me, anyway. 😆
Nomination 2 - White Nights

Again, as a ballet girl at heart, how could I resist a movie featuring Misha? While the plot is a bit simplistic and somewhat histrionic, the incredible dancing done by Baryshnikov and Hines makes the storyline issues easy to overlook. Add Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin with that heart hurty song from the soundtrack, and you can see why I've kinda picked this more than once for a Top 3 contest!
Nomination 3 - Fame

REASON
Another dance misfit makes good movie, but with added drama and music misfits too. It's much more of an ensemble film than the previous two (being set in a performing arts high school), but dancing features in a large part of it. And how can you watch the largely improvised Hot Lunch Jam without wanting to break into a happy dance!
Honorable Mention - Dirty Dancing

REASON
Yeah, I know - the one movie with dancing in the title didn't make the cut. While this is definitely a fave, and we even used "Time of my life" as the final dance song at our 1989 wedding (like a bazillion other people...lol), this one didn't make the cut mostly because the other three fit neatly into the 80s vibe I unintentionally ended up going with. Granted all four movies are from the decade of mall hair and mixed tapes, but as this was set in the 60s, I decided to stick with the others. But since nobody puts Baby in a corner, this honorable mention sits right on the shelf close to the three mentioned above!
There are my choices! And while the contest prizes are limited to bloggers on the Hive blockchain, I figure there are lots of bloggers out there who might want to share their favorite Oscar winning movies too. Instead of offering crypto prizes like the @yourtop3 crew, I thought I’d offer a little social media exposure instead.
So if anyone wants to jump aboard and share your faves, please feel free to drop a link to your own post (no time limit) in my comment section (along with your Twitter handle, if you have one), and I’ll do my best to take a peek and give it a tweet!
One last thing - a big thank you to the awesomesauce peeps who have been running this monthly crypto contest for close to two years now. @plantstoplanks, @nickyhavey, @foxyspirit, and @cheese4ead (and Q) - you guys and gals and punctuation mark ROCK!
Thanks for stopping by!

O M G!!! I should have picked all of those! I loved them, too. I clearly got far too serious! Lol
Yessss! Dancing into the sunset with this one. So many of the other ones are quite serious, so it is nice to see some fun in the bunch. All classics in their own right, and really, who doesn't love a good dance scene? Hopefully nobody puts Traci in a corner with these great choices. ;)
Hey, it’s Q here - the mascot of the Your Top 3 Contest - just swinging by to say thanks for these awesome suggestions for our contest this month! I've given you an upvote and logged your nominations, ready for the dpoll - keep an eye on my blog for the dpoll post!
Make sure you set your post payout to 50/50. You keep the HP and then transfer the HIVE and/or HBD (whichever is paid out at the time) to @yourtop3 with a link to your blog post entry in the transfer memo. This is the minimum entry fee, but you can add as much as you like to it! The more you add, the more you can win. There is no maximum entry fee.
Not sure how to find your post payout? Look in your Hive Wallet under Author Rewards to find the exact payout for your post. In the example below you would send the 0.011 HBD and 6.441 HIVE over to the @yourtop3 account as your entry fee. I take it from there and convert all of the prize pool to SBD for easy prize distribution at the end of the month!
