It's a long road but we'll get there

in Apis Hive14 hours ago (edited)

A few of days ago I did a post about starting an initiative to support newbies. Yesterday I launched it and it's called Apis Hive, you can read about it here https://peakd.com/hive-186600/@apis.hive/apis-hive-growing-on-hive.

Put simply, Apis Hive is a support initiative that allows users to claim assets every day that will lead to Hive delegations. In 138 days, they could get 320 HP delegation. Yes, it takes a while, and yes the delegation isn't massive. The road is long, but there's a reason behind it, let me explain.

Many new accounts join Hive every day, fake, alts, bots, sock, spam. Then there are some real people who were told they can earn by posting on Hive. Wouldn't it be great if some of them also have a long term vision on Hive and helped grow the platform? These are the people I want to find and support in my initiative. The cynicism in me tells me there aren't that many. I want my initiative to prove me wrong.

In order to support the people with this mindset, I'm going to look at how they manage their account first. The criteria identified aren't a big ask.

  • rep 40 and above
  • be active in posting, curating and engaging
  • not participate in any form of abuse or create low quality content
  • no self voting
  • have at least 30 HP staked
  • not powering down
  • not liquidise any rewards
  • not delegate out more than 30% of your staked HP

The next step, is to help them learn and appreciate Hive, and understand the long term benefits of growing their account at a steady pace. People tend not to appreciate things when it comes too easily and too quickly. It becomes an entitlement. That's why I've opted to take a slow approach with Apis Hive. Users can use this time to let the wider community discover their commitment, trustworthiness and dedication to Hive and build their network on that. Trust and integrity are important here.

And of course, I'd like to reward users for their effort and dedication. Delegation is one way, as is potential upvotes. It won't be a big bang upvote and it's not a guarantee, but it will help them to grow their account steadily. Potentially there could be additional support from the wider community, from people whose trust they've gained and the networks they've built throughout the process. How much they manage to get is entirely dependent on how they've portrayed themselves. And that's the key to longevity on Hive and the whole point of Apis Hive - for users to forge their own path on Hive, with a little help on the side.

In the long run, I'd love for Apis Hive members to be recognized as a trusted group of users by the wider Hive community. I'll even get them an Apis Hive badge for the recognition. I'd love for this group to help drive Hive forward, and to support the next wave of new users to do the same. Paying forward is a great thing to do.

So far, many whom I'm glad to say share the same beliefs about Hive, have offered their support and help for Apis Hive. I don't know how things will pan out yet and if I need to take up your offer, but thanks in advance, I may be knocking on your door soon. In the meanwhile, if you can send good users to Apis Hive that would be great.

image.pngLast but not the least, none of this would have been possible without my partner in crime 😄. A massive thanks goes to @asgarth for his help in developing https://apishive.blog/. For those who don't know, he is the dev behind Peakd, in my opinion, the best front end on Hive. I couldn't have asked for a better person to help me out. Without his input, I wouldn't have been able to pull this off. @asgarth is very modest about his involvement, and when I asked him how he wanted to describe his role for the website FAQ, this is what he wrote. Thank you @asgarth.

I think that is a really good idea. I like the thought of making sure they are keeping their rewards on the chain. I also like the idea that after the prove it they get a decent delegation. Very cool!

If people are not here primarily for the rewards, I believe this will work. They're not asked to do anything more than what a normal good user would do

Good luck with the idea! I hope you will find some gems among those new users... We need more people with a long-term vision! 💪

I confident there are some gems hanging around, just need to find them. If you come across any, don't forget to send them over.

A great initiative for worthy new users. I love to support new users but haven't been motivated lately as I have expressed. My thoughts are very much in line with this and yes paying foward helps us all out as a whole.

Maybe I answer this question again, What is your new tactic now? I would love to be part of this. Better to be part of something bigger than do it all by yourself! I would be willing to chip in anyway I can. Anyways I offer myself if needed 😁

Thanks so much in advance for your offer @coolmidwestguy. I hope things will ramp up and I will need help from others very soon!

I'm sure this will take off. I'll be on the look out for some prospective users and might just get some brand new users I can coach up before they arrive.

Hive definitely needs more longterm dedicated users who genuinely care about the platform’s growth. I admire the structured approach you're taking to identify and support them. Wishing Apis Hive great success. Are you accepting nominations for these Hivers who deserve to be a part of this initiative?

Definitely, if you come across any users who you think will fit the criteria, feel free to send them to Discord for a chat, or just ping me. Ultimately I will be checking the account and if there's anything that could do with a helping hand I'll be glad to help

I like the idea. I wish you nothing but success with this initative. It is so needed.

Thanks, I appreciate the support here!

Hi and thank you!
For my part, I love the blogging here in Markdown, but I don't have time or interest for money and the mechanics here on Hive. I would appreciate a very short sum up of why I should bother about the percentage of my likes. Yes, that's where I'm standing 😅 Thank you

Just enjoy yourself, that's the best approach 👍

I'm really happy for this initiative and I'm ready to do what I can. I'm just curious, how will you find new Hive users who deserve support, or how will this initiative get in front of them? How do we keep this initiative alive?

@asgarth is really a very humble person. I have seen him in the Holozing team before. I don't see him actively posting or have a witness node for him, but if there's somewhere I can support him, I'd be happy to do so. People like this should be rewarded more on Hive.

At the moment it's still quite reactive in terms of finding users, I'm relying on recommendations from people. I'll need to get a program where I can scan for users that fit the criteria and invite them.

Yes asgarth is a great guy, so responsive and pretty much everything is doable, apart from when I have some wacky weird requests 😀

It is great to see what you are doing? You have always been great at helping the newbies! I am here to help when you need to start knocking on our doors.

Thanks so much Sara, I appreciate it!!!❤️

That's why I've opted to take a slow approach with Apis Hive.

Slow and steady wins the race, I am sure, these users will get support from the wider community in the long run.

I'd love the users to do some work themselves instead of having everything handed out to them. When the handouts finish often they'll find they have no network and support because they never bothered to work on that area

Finally, it's live, long hard work, tons of brainstorming, and a dedicated project/initiative for Hive. Long way to go Pauline and wish you all the best...

Thanks Priyan! I had a lot of help to get this off the ground, and now a lot of support from so many people. There are already a lot of very good people on Hive, but we still need more 😀

Awesome iniciative! Love the gamification idea.

Wouldn't it be great if some of them also have a long term vision on Hive and helped grow the platform? These are the people I want to find and support in my initiative.

And I would say this is the only possible way, no added value unless this happens! Let me know if you need a hand!!BBH

Very interesting. Yeah i heard there are a lot of bots and such here. And with AI becomeing more common people can easily write so much and nothing be personal.
