Heading To The Coldplay Concert In Ahmedabad - Part 1

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

I finally did it after four months of struggle. I finally got tickets to Coldplay out of sheer luck and that too just one week before the concert. P.S this was Coldplay's Biggest Ever Concert and I WAS THERE, Well it was Me & My Sweetheart @yugadi , I got these tickets as a small present to surprise her before she heads out to Germany this March, but i couldn't just keep it in I told her the minute I got the tickets 😭 😂

Now Before We Begin
Here's Some Backstory On What Went Down For 4 Months

Initially Coldplay had announced only 2 Shows in India which would happen in Mumbai on the 18 & 19 on January and the Tickets first went Live on the 22nd September and there was a very long virtual queue to get the tickets and they were very limited and the tickets just got sold out like that and seeing this crazy response, Coldplay decided to introduce another show on the 21st of January and the tickets for this one went LIVE the next day which again just got sold out immediately, and a lot of fans were disappointed that they couldn't get the tickets, even though they waited in line for a very long time, including me.

Few weeks later in the middle of October, Coldplay decided to introduce to other 2 more shows on the 25 and 26 of January and this time in Ahmedabad and that too in the Largest Stadium in the world which has a capacity of 1,32,000 People! the tickets went LIVE on 16 November and well it was the same situation again where I couldn't get the tickets which turned out to be super disappointing.

Coldplay had also introduced Infinity Tickets which was available in December and these tickets were super limited and you could only buy them in pairs but the catch is that you don't get to decide where you'll be in the concert it is decided in random so you could pretty much be anywhere in the concert. It could be at the Standing Section or somewhere the Seated Section but as usual I couldn't get these as well. @yugadi gave up on the concert during the 2nd round of tickets but I still had to try and at that moment this was it and all hopes was lost.

11 Jan, Book My Show the ticketing partner for the show announced that they have added Limited Tickets for the Mumbai show and I was least bothered to even try so I just ignored it and the day went on.

15 Jan, They made another announcement for the Ahmedabad show that Limited Tickets would be available and that they go LIVE at 3pm and I thought that why not try it? if I get it then it would be a great surprise to give my love if not then i'm sure i'd think of something.

I'm now in the Queue and OMFG I finally got it and I had just 4 minutes to book the tickets and accidentally I selected the most of expensive tickets available and I was like fuck because this is something definitely couldn't afford and I clicked back and I thought I would get back into the seat selection but it just cancel the whole thing and I was heartbroken I quickly went back to the booking process and somehow I got back in. I don't know how and I didn't care how at that point I just quickly picked up the cheapest ticket available and I booked it!

I BOOKED THE TICKETS TO COLDPLAY!
WE"RE GOING TO COLDPLAY!

The tickets cost me Rs 14,652 ($ 170) and since it's super last minute, the fights as well were expensive ASF.

Round Trip flights to Ahmedabad from Chennai was initially Rs 29,098 ($ 337) which was okay at fist but then once we were about to pay for the flight the prices increased immediately 😭 This was so unexpected and now the final total came to Rs 32,468 ($ 376) 🥲

Well that's about it for the back story!

Woke up at 3:30am so that I could leave home by 4am and reach the airport by 5:30am (I Know, I Live On The Outskirts Of The City 🥲) @yugadi lives closer to the airport so it just took her 25 minutes to get there. This will be the first of many flight we will be taking together.

Passing through airport security was a breeze since we weren’t travelling with any luggage also in India the Government introduced an app called Digiyatra for quicker check-ins at the airport, you can load in your boarding pass on this app which gets verified using your government ID at the Airport, all you have to do is scan the boarding pass present in the app at a self check in Terminal and you can pass through the various checkpoints within the airport in a breeze.

We had about 45 minutes till the boarding begins and we just decided to chill and discuss about the trip. Since our flight was on standby a bit further from the departure terminal, we had to board a shuttle bus to our flight. It was a bit chilly that morning, and the weather was quite pleasant.

Airplanes happen to be my favourite mode of transportation. It's just very exciting personally for me to be up in the air in this contraption that can take you from one place to another in a very short amount of time, that technology and science has always been fascinating for me.

Once we took off from Chennai, I decided to use their barf bag as a phone holder and had it fastened to the tray table in front of my, we had per downloaded Season 2 of The Night Agent just to kill time if we get bored and mid-episode 1, I clearly fell asleep since I woke up way too early in the morning 😂

Two hours later, we finally arrived in Ahmedabad and we were so excited for the day. The minute we got out of the airport. We could literally hear "Sky Full Of Stars" being played in the background and we were like wow ✨

$1

Everyone there is excited for the concert and they had even set up a special booth right outside the airport. Where you could get customised Coldplay T-shirts, they had set up Two Heat Presses where you could pick out the design you like and a black or a white T-shirt of your choice and they would immediately get the T-shirt ready for you and you had like a long line of people waiting to get their hands on this.

The two of us were pretty famished since we didn't have a chance to grab breakfast, so we decided to head to Tim Hortons right outside the airport.

We took a Hot Double Double Latte, Chicken Kheema Sourdough Melt and a Maple Caramel Doughnut, spent about an hour and a half at this place looking to kill time since the gates to the concert opens at 2 PM and was currently 11:30 AM.

$1

On our way out we found this free photo booth that they had set up for visitors and I found this really cool where you can just go and take a picture of yourself and it generates a QR code where you can scan and download the image for free like how cool is that?

$1

We didn't plan on taking an Uber to the venue since it was a bit expensive so we decided to hop on a public bus and they were selling the tickets at the counter nearby where we just had to pay Rs 50 ($ 0.58) per person. The bus does not directly go to the concert venue, but it goes to a place nearby called Rani where you could get down and catch a Metro that goes directly to the concert venue. Out of all this excitement, we missed getting down at our stop at rani and we had to get down at the next stop called Vadaj.

$1

At the Metro station, you could buy the tickets from a vending machine where you just had to pay online so we quickly picked up a ticket to Motera Stadium which was the name of the stop we had to get down for the concert. This ticket was Rs 10 ($ 0.12) Per Person.

$1

The journey was about 15 minutes and closer to our station. We could see the Narendra Modi Stadium from the train and it was just massive and as the train passed right in front of the stadium we could see the hordes of people just waiting in front of the gate to gain entry.

Got out of the station and made a way to the stadium and it was 1:30 PM and we decided to chill next to a shaded area near by gate while everyone else were waiting in the hot sun.

Thats It For Part 1 !
Coming Up Next Will Be Visuals From The Concert
So Stay Tuned !

Also, just one day before the concert my boss calls me up and says that she can't afford to keep her employees since the company isn't doing well and I got fired 🙂 well fuck me i'm royally screwed this month since i'll also be in debt 🥲

Can't wait for part 2! 😄

I like their songs "The Scientist" and "Yellow".
I love watching your video.

Thanks ✨ will be putting up the concert video on my next post 🙌🏼

I saw them in Cape Town South Africa a few years ago for much cheaper tickets. Very expensive bhai.

Lucky you, everything happened at the last minute for me which is why it was super expensive.
