Greetings to everyone in the Lifestyle community! I hope you are feeling well. Today I bring a special delivery because this time I bring the presence of my mother, who is the protagonist of this publication. A few days ago I arrived in Valencia to visit my mom and see her health, because she had recently gone to the gynecologist and had some not very favorable results. So I was quite alarmed because I know that it is necessary to take action on these situations. She is a very healthy woman but obviously time goes by and the years, habits and so on, take their toll on the body. Especially as a woman, one must be aware of many things that are happening in our body.
So after the holidays, my mother and I went to what is known here as FUNCAMAMA (Fundación Contra el Cáncer de Mamá), since we had known beforehand that there were several medical services (specialists) and that they also performed different types of studies at solidarity prices. My mom had been ordered to have a Breast Echo, Mammography and Bone Densitometry. The truth is that I was a little nervous because I know that she does not like these things (a good reason to come with her) and well, one can also feel intimidated by what the professionals see on their screens (the medical equipment/units). The truth of the matter is that we spent a good part of the morning there, but we were treated with a lot of kindness and respect. I was very pleased with that, because many patients come here with difficult cases and they deserve that attention.
My mom seems to have done well on the Breast Echo, except for a small cyst but that (according to the doctor) doesn't seem to be a problem. We are still waiting for the reading of the other tests when we visit the gynecologist again and she gives us the results of everything. That will be in a few more days. In the meantime, my mom and I went out for ice cream as a reward for successfully completing all the tests. She was very happy, so that's what matters. I take this parenthesis to emphasize how important it is to attend regular medical check-ups and above all, to follow the indications and treatments to the letter. In my experience as a Dental Assistant, I have to perform the anamnesis and I frequently see female patients between 40-70 years of age who have undergone a hysterectomy. And of a history of cancer, not to mention. It is alarming. So get checked! Without further ado, thank you so much for stopping by.
