Tell me, why do you love doing what you do?

in Lifestyle2 months ago (edited)

What is that one thing you just love doing so much? Is it a skill, perhaps painting or sewing? Or exercising, like swimming or riding a bike? Are you a fan of football and enjoy playing or watching, or both? Maybe you just love traveling long distances and exploring the world. There are many reasons why people love doing what they do. I'll list a few possible reasons, but ultimately, their reasons are complex and diverse, meaning they can vary from person to person.

One reason why people love what they do is for personal fulfillment. It could be that they enjoy completing a challenging project or achieving a personal goal because it gives them a sense of accomplishment. Take gaming, for example. Most gamers enjoy games that are challenging, and they need to work hard for their wins. Easy victories make them not feel that sense of accomplishment or pride in their achievements. Some engage in creative activities like art, music, or writing because it allows them to express themselves and showcase their talents. I have a friend who prefers writing to talking.

Still, under personal fulfillment, many find certain activities that inspire learning, self-improvement, and personal growth, like reading or learning a new language, highly fulfilling.

Another reason why people love doing what they do is because it creates room for social connection. Some enjoy team sports like football, group hobbies, or volunteering because it allows them to vibe with others. And that's why some will tell you they love reading, but they love it more when they read with friends, and as a result, they join a book club. Participating in activities that bring people together, such as festivals, carnivals, and concerts, can create a sense of belonging and folksiness to the participants, and that's why they love such community events.

Now, to a very relatable motive as to why people love doing certain things, is because of the emotional experience afterwards. For example, some engage in exercise, dance, or gaming because they provide emotional release and reduce stress. Many fancy exhilarating activities, such as extreme sports, because they provide a rush of adrenaline. In contrast to the latter, others enjoy meditation, yoga, reading, and some other activities that can help them relax and chill.

Finally, humans, especially Africans, definitely love doing things that originated from either a family tradition, cultural heritage, or childhood memories. For example, many enjoy cooking traditional recipes or participating in family rituals because they are passed down through generations. Engaging in cultural traditions, such as certain holidays, can provide a sense of connection to one's heritage. Even when engaging in popular holidays, people carry it out in a particular style accustomed to their culture.

Definitely, this write-up addressed one of the reasons why you love what you do so much. Well, I'm sorry if I didn't highlight any of the reasons why you love what you do. Maybe you can tell me in the comment session. Sometimes, you might not actually have a motive, though, for loving something.

This is the comment from the friend I mentioned earlier, after I asked him why he loves writing: "I just do. I'm drawn to writing."

As for me, I love bead making. I've cherished this skill since my early teenage years till presently. I love bead making because it helps me relax. Of course, some designs might be challenging, but hey, who doesn't want to be tested? I'm highly fulfilled when I finish a difficult bag or a new style of bead tie. And yes, I get bored at times doing the same style over and over again. I like making new styles of ties, bags, and bracelets. Well, through diligent practice and unwavering dedication, I've put in honing this skill. I've been able to have a brand of my own, BEADIVINE! We just opened, and we're thriving. Hopefully, we'll grow bigger.

Thanks for reading, your time and attention is highly appreciated.
