Hola de nuevo mi grandiosa familia. Como ya deben saber soy estudiante, específicamente de la carrera de ingeniería naval, así como lo he comentado en anteriores publicaciones. Por lo tanto, mientras pueda fomentar y obtener conocimientos e información sobre mi campo de trabajo, genera un sentimiento de emoción inigualable. Cabe resaltar que el actual semestre que estoy cursando, me han asignado excelentes profesores, que buscan las maneras de que aprendamos un poco más y estemos bien preparados y capacitados, siendo uno de los métodos de aprendizaje las visitas guiadas, así como cursos. De esta manera quiero contarles un poco de la visita programada que tuve en un astillero, donde mi profesora gestionó todo el proceso para hacer posible la misma.

Hello again my great family. As you may already know I am a student, specifically of the naval engineering career, as I have commented in previous posts. Therefore, as long as I can promote and obtain knowledge and information about my field of work, it generates a feeling of unparalleled excitement. It should be noted that the current semester I am studying, I have been assigned excellent teachers, who seek ways to learn a little more and be well prepared and trained, being one of the methods of learning guided tours, as well as courses. In this way I want to tell you a little of the scheduled visit I had in a shipyard, where my teacher managed the whole process to make it possible.

Un tiempo antes del día que debíamos ver la asignatura con la profesora, nos comentó por medio de un grupo de WhatsApp que tenemos, sobre la visita, pero que todavía no era seguro, hasta que un día nos dio la grandiosa noticia de que aceptaron que fuésemos. Así mismo, El astillero de elección y el que estaba dispuesto a dar su tiempo para enseñarnos fue uno llamado NAVIMCA, ubicado en Cumaná, estado Sucre, Venezuela; cabe resaltar que ya tenía conocimiento de él, ya que casualmente queda a poca distancia de donde vivo, pero aún así, no había tenido la oportunidad de visitarlo, hasta que al fin pude hacerlo. Para poder ir, la profesora nos dijo que asistiríamos durante las horas académicas que a ella le corresponden. Por lo que, al día siguiente el autobús de la universidad nos trasladó a las instalaciones del astillero.

Some time before the day we were to see the subject with the teacher, she told us through a WhatsApp group that we have, about the visit, but it was still not sure, until one day she gave us the great news that they accepted us to go. Likewise, the shipyard of choice and the one that was willing to give their time to teach us was one called NAVIMCA, located in Cumaná, Sucre state, Venezuela; it should be noted that I already knew about it, since it happens to be a short distance from where I live, but still, I had not had the opportunity to visit it, until finally I was able to do so. To be able to go, the teacher told us that we would attend during the academic hours that correspond to her. So, the next day the university bus took us to the shipyard facilities.

Cuando llegamos nos ubicaron en un pequeño comedor, donde al rato llegó la persona que nos iba a dar el recorrido por las instalaciones. Nos comenzó a guiar y mostrar algunas de las embarcaciones que llevaban tiempo allí, para explicarnos varias cosas que sabíamos en la parte teórica, pero realmente físicamente no podíamos distinguirlas, hasta que nos explicaron todo. Mientras caminábamos me di cuenta de un gran galpón que había, donde realizaban las construcciones, encontrándose justamente uno en proceso de fabricación, lamentablemente no pude tomarle fotos, ya que el proyecto es confidencial.

When we arrived we were placed in a small dining room, where after a while the person who was going to give us the tour of the facilities arrived. He began to guide us and show us some of the boats that had been there for some time, to explain several things that we knew in the theoretical part, but really physically we could not distinguish them, until they explained everything to us. While we were walking I noticed a large shed where the constructions were being built, and one of them was in the process of being manufactured, unfortunately I could not take pictures of it, since the project is confidential.

Además, nos llevó a un espacio cerca de la playa, donde podíamos encontrar un contenedor full hasta arriba de arena, no podía diferenciar cuál era, hasta que el muchacho nos mostró un poco de ella, y me di cuenta que es la que se usa para el granallado, es decir, ésta es usada por medio de una pistola a presión para limpiar la superficie de la embarcación, específicamente para realizar parte de su mantenimiento. Solo la había visto por imágenes, pero él nos ofreció un poco para tocarla y ver exactamente como es.

In addition, he took us to a space near the beach, where we could find a container full to the top of sand, I could not differentiate what it was, until the boy showed us some of it, and I realized that it is the one used for blasting, that is, it is used by means of a pressure gun to clean the surface of the boat, specifically to perform part of its maintenance. I had only seen it in pictures, but he offered us a little bit to touch it and see exactly how it is.

Después de esto, fuimos al área de diques, donde nos explicaron que allí entran las embarcaciones para luego ser sacados del mar y vararlos, es decir, colocarlos en tierra para realizar el respectivo mantenimiento. Se que tal vez parece una clase lo que doy, pero es que en verdad aprendí mucho más en la visita, porque una cosa es la parte teórica y la otra es poder visualizarlo de cerca.

After this, we went to the dock area, where they explained to us that the boats enter there to be taken out of the sea and beached, that is to say, to place them on land to perform the respective maintenance. I know it may seem like a lecture, but I really learned a lot more during the visit, because one thing is the theoretical part and the other is to be able to visualize it up close.

Por último, visitamos el espacio del taller, donde visualizamos diferentes maquinarias como taladro industrial, tronzadora, máquinas de soldar, máquinas para doblar perfiles, entre otras. Y si supieran que solo pude diferenciar la de soldar jajajaja. Este espacio fue el último que visitamos, tal vez dirán que es poco, pero no fue nada poquito lo que caminamos, ya que el espacio es bastante grande, y es considerable, siendo que hay una buena cantidad de embarcaciones varadas.

Finally, we visited the workshop space, where we saw different machinery such as industrial drills, cutting machines, welding machines, profile bending machines, among others. And if they only knew that I could only differentiate the welding machine hahahaha. This space was the last one we visited, maybe they will say that it is little, but it was not little at all what we walked, since the space is quite large, and it is considerable, being that there is a good amount of stranded boats.

En realidad, fue una experiencia increíble, después de tanto tiempo queriendo ir a un astillero si se pudo, y todo gracias a una increíble docente y a la disposición que tuvo el astillero para con nosotros. Somos un grupo relativamente pequeño y lo disfrutamos muchísimo, mejores compañeros que ellos no tengo, así que compartir estos momentos con ellos me emociona. Actually, it was an incredible experience, after wanting to go to a shipyard for so long, it was possible, and all thanks to an incredible teacher and the disposition that the shipyard had for us. We are a relatively small group and we enjoyed it very much, I don't have better classmates than them, so sharing these moments with them thrills me.
