Hace pocos meses en mi ciudad abrieron una sucursal de esta cadena de supermercados llamada Alkosto, que según tengo entendido nació en la ciudad de Maracaibo.
Había visto mucha publicidad en Instagram donde hablaban de sus excelentes costos en la mercancía y me dio curiosidad conocer sus espacios.
Esta tienda anteriormente era una carnicería, que a mi parecer era bastante pequeña de espacio, por lo que me dio curiosidad saber como estaría distribuida porque no había podido encontrar fotos o videos donde se viera esto.
Aproveché el día que me iba a encontrar con una amiga para celebrar su cumpleaños para pasar antes por allá, ya que el sitio donde estaríamos quedaba súper cerca.

A few months ago in my city they opened a branch of this supermarket chain called Alkosto, which as I understand was born in the city of Maracaibo.
I had seen a lot of advertising on Instagram where they talked about their excellent costs on merchandise and I was curious to know their spaces.
This store was previously a butcher shop, which in my opinion was quite small in space, so I was curious to know how it would be distributed because I had not been able to find photos or videos where this was seen.
I took advantage of the day I was going to meet a friend to celebrate her birthday to go there first, since the place where we would be was very close.

Aún así me aventuré a salir, para también salir de ese estado de enfermedad. Eso fue después del medio día, a eso de las 2 de la tarde, cuando el sol está bien fuerte.
It was my first outing after spending more than a week seriously ill, so I had that strange feeling plus I still had a slight discomfort from the congestion.

Como había llegado casi media hora antes para el encuentro, paré directamente en el supermercado. En cuanto a estructura, lucía exactamente igual desde afuera, solo que con nuevo logo.

Al entrar comencé a recorrer los pasillos y en ese momento me di cuenta que el espacio era sumamente reducido. todo se veía muy amontonado, pero eso si, mercancía había para tirar al techo jaja
Había de todo lo que pudieras necesitar y lo que me llamó mucho la atención era que habían muchos productos de marcas que no tenía idea de su existencia.
Me pareció raro porque normalmente ya uno sabe que marcas están en el mercado, unas mas reconocidas que otras, pero de estos nombres nunca escuché hablar. También estaban los productos tradicionales.
Upon entering I began to walk through the aisles and at that moment I realized that the space was extremely small. everything looked very crowded, but yes, there was enough merchandise to throw to the ceiling haha.
There was everything you could possibly need and what really caught my attention was that there were many products from brands that I had no idea existed.
It seemed strange to me because normally you already know which brands are on the market, some more recognized than others, but I never heard of these names. There were also the traditional products.
En la parte de las papitas y cereales había mucha variedad y me causó mucha risa las ediciones especiales que había de los Kellogg's, esto es muy poco común de ver acá.
Había también un cereal de una marca llama Musito, el cual tenía un costo de 1.75$ el medio kilo, algo que me pareció súper económico y definitivamente tenía que llevar uno, pues desde hace un tiempo hemos querido comer cereal en casa, pero por el alto costo no he podido comprarlo.
In the cereal and chips section there was a lot of variety and I laughed a lot at the special editions of Kellogg's, this is very uncommon to see here.

Caminando un poco más me encontré con una sección de ropa. Era imposible darte cuenta si habían otras cosas más adelante pues todo estaba tan amontonado que no había mucha visión. Entonces iba descubriendo las seccione a medida que recorría la tienda.
Encontrarme con una sección de hogar y de ropa fue una sorpresa la verdad.
Había un montón para elegir, pero había que revisar mucho para saber que había exactamente, así que solo vi por encimita los precios y lo que estaba en las primeras hileras.
Walking a little further I came across a clothing section. It was impossible to tell if there were other things ahead because everything was so crowded that there wasn't much of a view. So I was discovering the sections as I walked through the store.
Coming across a home and clothing section was a real surprise.
There was a lot to choose from, but you had to look around a lot to know exactly what was there, so I just skimmed over the prices and what was in the first rows.
Vendían hasta electrodomésticos grandes como aires acondicionados jaja que locura de tienda. En un espacio reducido se las ingeniaron para meter, literal, de todo.
They even sold large appliances such as air conditioners haha what a crazy store. In a small space they managed to fit literally everything.
Ya de ahí decidí ir a caja para pagar el cereal, y es cuando me di cuenta que el pagar iba a ser otra aventura. La cola era enorme y las personas llevaban un montón de cosas, por lo que no sería algo breve.
Por suerte se me ocurrió preguntar en la parte de farmacia (si, también había farmacia jajaja), por una medicina para mi esposo que también esta viviendo la misma gripe que yo, y me dijeron que podía pagar todo de una vez sin hacer la cola.
Así que no dudé y pagué para poder retirarme a mi encuentro.
From there I decided to go to the cashier to pay for the cereal, and that's when I realized that paying was going to be another adventure. The line was huge and people were carrying a lot of stuff, so it was not going to be short.
Luckily I happened to ask at the pharmacy part (yes, there was also a pharmacy hahaha), for a medicine for my husband who is also living the same flu as me, and they told me that I could pay all at once without standing in line.
So I didn't hesitate and paid so I could leave for my meeting.
Luego había que hacer otra fila para que revisaran uno a uno los productos que llevabas y por fin pude salir de la tienda.
Hago la crítica porque el espacio me parece que no es cómodo, ni para los trabajadores, ni para quienes visitan el negocio. No volvería a ir pues los precios me parece que son muy similares a cualquiera de otras tiendas,
Y ya desde la entrada te sientes "amuñuñado". Es una locura, aunque se nota que es un negocio próspero por la cantidad de personas que había.
Así fue mi recorrido por esta particular tienda. Nos leemos en una próxima aventura. ♥

I make the criticism because the space seems to me that it is not comfortable, neither for the workers, nor for those who visit the store. I would not go there again because the prices seem to me to be very similar to any of the other stores,
And already from the entrance you feel “crammed”. It's crazy, although you can tell that it is a thriving business by the number of people that were there.

Ay no, que estrés las tiendas donde sientes que no puedes ni respirar dentro 😆 pero se ve que tienen de todo. Si vives cerca, es una buena opción, de lo contrario, como dices, es mejor ir a otros lugares con los mismos precios que allí manejan 🤭

Me gustó mucho cómo narraste tu experiencia, porque logras transmitir esa mezcla de curiosidad, sorpresa y hasta un poco de frustración con el espacio reducido y la cola en la caja. Me pareció interesante que mencionaras marcas desconocidas y ediciones especiales de productos, eso siempre da la sensación de estar descubriendo algo nuevo. También me sorprendió que vendieran desde alimentos hasta electrodomésticos en un lugar tan pequeño, ¡parece que realmente aprovecharon cada centímetro! Y qué suerte lo de la farmacia, definitivamente te ahorraste un buen rato en la fila. En general, disfruté mucho leer tu relato, se siente cercano y entretenido.
