Bienvenidos a mi triste historia de cómo una mala información me arruinó el carnaval 😆 Y lo digo con risas, porque lo único que queda es la enseñanza de preguntar para estar seguros.
Resulta que me dispuse a celebrar el carnaval, al menos para distraerme un poco del ambiente rutinario y tener algún tema de conversación cuando volviera al trabajo o estudios.
El primer día escuché que el lunes de celebración, en mi ciudad iba a estar TOTEM ¿Totem? Pues sí, el cantante de un pueblo donde fui muy feliz, vendría a alegrar mis fiestas, así que entusiasmada esperé ese día con ansias.
En mi país, se tienen diferentes tradiciones del carnaval, pero yo adoro como se celebra en el oriente de Venezuela, sobre todo en el estado Sucre, porque es mucha fiesta, colorido y cultura diferente. TOTEM, es un artista que canta soca y desde muy pequeño anda en los escenarios, así que por ser carnaval era lógico que invitaran a alguien que canta melodías de carnaval ¿Cierto? Estaba escéptica porque pensé "¿A la gente le gustará esto?", pero como ponían sus canciones, entonces dije "seguro es famoso aquí también" 😉.
Me desperté temprano porque no quería perderme detalle alguno y después de diligencias personales, a las 6:00 p. m. estaba lista con mi amigo Flor para ir a ver a TOTEM.
La plaza estaba full porque siendo el propio día del carnaval, las personas decidieron salir a divertirse también:

It turns out that I set out to celebrate carnival, at least to distract myself a bit from the routine environment and have some topic of conversation when I went back to work or studies. The first day I heard that TOTEM was going to be in my city on the Monday of the celebration, Totem? Well yes, the singer from a town where I was very happy, would come to brighten up my holidays, so I was looking forward to that day with enthusiasm.
In my country, there are different traditions of carnival, but I love how it is celebrated in the east of Venezuela, especially in the state of Sucre, because it is a lot of party, colorful and different culture. Totem is an artist who sings soca and has been on stage since he was very young, so since it's carnival it was logical to invite someone who sings carnival tunes, right? I was skeptical because I thought “Will people like this?”, but since they played his songs, then I said “sure he is famous here too” 😉. I woke up early because I didn't want to miss any detail and after personal errands, at 6:00 p.m. I was ready with my friend Flor to go see TOTEM. The plaza was full because being the carnival day itself, people decided to go out and have fun too:
Las canciones de Totem sonaban una y otra vez, al igual que otros artistas de Güiria, por lo que pensaba "¡Hoy es su noche!" y nos ubicamos en un lugar privilegiado, para gritar, tomar fotos, cantar, bailar y si tenía suerte, decirle que conocía su carrera desde pequeño 😎.
Totem's songs were playing over and over again, as well as other artists from Güiria, so I thought “Today is his night!” and we placed ourselves in a privileged place, to shout, take pictures, sing, dance and if I was lucky, tell him I knew his career since I was little 😎.
Inicio la noche con un grupo de calipso (ritmo reconocido como patrimonio inmaterial de la humanidad de la UNESCO), por lo que los ánimos se encendieron haciendo bailar y brincar al público, en especial a nosotras:

Lo importante, es que la tarima no quedaba sola y el animador nos hacía reír, bailar y disfrutar entre una agrupación y otra. Lo que me gustó es que el tiempo de espera no era mucho:

A cada rato, mencionaban a TOTEM, pero las personas no gritaban ni se emocionaban, por lo que imaginé Viña del Mar en Barcelona 🤣, pero a medida que pasaban los artistas, seguíamos animadas. El turno llegó para DJ Criss que está en las tarimas desde los 7 años de edad; pensando que se identificaba con la juventud de TOTEM era normal que presentaran artistas iguales. Cantamos y coreamos las canciones por más de una hora de espectáculo:
Every now and then, they mentioned TOTEM, but people did not scream or get excited, so I imagined Viña del Mar in Barcelona 🤣, but as the artists passed, we were still animated. The turn came for DJ Criss who has been on the stages since he was 7 years old; thinking that he identified himself with the youth of TOTEM it was normal that they would present equal artists. We sang and chanted the songs for more than an hour of show:

Y después de él, no había mañana porque venía TOTEM. Mientras preparaban el escenario, hicieron un show con el público que quedó muy bueno:

Yo sí noté que estaban colocando batería, piano y hasta saxofón, pero en mi esperanza me dije "será que cambió el ritmo, porque el artista es así". Cuando el animador finalmente dijo: Es "talento local", me convencí de que estábamos hablando de otro artista muy diferente al que yo tenía en mente, que hasta mal escrito el nombre sin acento tienen:
I did notice that they were playing drums, piano and even saxophone, but in my hope I said to myself “maybe he changed the rhythm, because the artist is like that”. When the entertainer finally said: It's “local talent”, I was convinced that we were talking about another artist very different from the one I had in mind, who even misspelled the name without an accent:
Con total decepción me marché a casa, ya que caí en cuenta que un artista que tiene el carnaval en su casa, no iba a venir a esta ciudad a hacer un show.
Pero cómo me dijo una amiga ¿Hubo algo que valiera la pena? Pues me quedo con ello, porque no voy a negar que disfrute la noche, canté, bailé, brinqué, grité y a eso fue que asistí al evento. Ya será para una próxima oportunidad 😉.
With total disappointment I went home, since I realized that an artist who has the carnival at home, was not going to come to this city to do a show. But as a friend told me, was there anything worthwhile? Well, I'll keep it, because I will not deny that I enjoyed the night, I sang, danced, jumped, shouted and that was what I attended the event. It will be for a next opportunity 😉.

Según todo lo que leí antes de la desilusión si lo pasaste bien. Lo importante es que gracias a esa maña información pudiste ir al espectáculo y divertirte, quizás sin la confusión no hubieras querido ir y te hubieras perdido de esa noche.
Así es amiga. Mi mejor amiga me hizo esa pregunta y me di cuenta de que a pesar del mal rato la pasé muy bien, y con esa experiencia me quedo.
