¡Hola hola! Espero que estén teniendo una semana maravillosa. Como saben, el verano en los países del Caribe es en extremo caluroso, y aquí en Cuba este año está siendo insoportable, así que mi familia y yo decidimos escapar de este calor sofocante y pasar unos días en la playa. Ayer fue nuestro segundo día de cuatro, y estábamos decididos a disfrutar al máximo.
Hi hi! I hope you are having a wonderful week. As you know, summer in the Caribbean countries is extremely hot, and here in Cuba this year is being unbearable, so my family and I decided to escape from this sweltering heat and spend a few days at the beach. Yesterday was our second day out of four, and we were determined to make the most of it.
Mis ganas de cazar un buen amanecer me llevaron a levantarme temprano, junto a mi papá y mi hermano mayor que se sumaron a mi aventura, estábamos de pie a las 5:30 de la mañana. Quería capturar la belleza del amanecer en una playa cercana fuera del hotel, así que tuvimos que caminar aproximadamente 2km. Los amaneceres tienen un encanto especial para mí; son momentos llenos de promesas y oportunidades. Compartir ese instante con mi hermano y mi papá lo hizo aún más especial. El silencio roto solo por el sonido de las olas creó un ambiente mágico que nos dejó sin aliento. La paleta de colores que pintaba el cielo era simplemente impresionante, y cada foto que tomaba capturaba un trozo de esa belleza efímera.
My desire to capture a good sunrise led me to wake up early, along with my dad and big brother who joined me on my adventure, we were standing at 5:30 in the morning. I wanted to capture the beauty of the sunrise on a nearby beach outside the hotel, and we had to walk about 2km. Sunrises have a special charm for me; they are moments full of promises and opportunities. Sharing that moment with my brother and dad made it even more special. The silence broken only by the sound of the waves created a magical atmosphere that left us breathless. The palette of colors painting the sky was simply stunning, and each photo I took captured a piece of that ephemeral beauty.
Estuvimos un rato en la playa y regresamos al hotel para desayunar todos juntos. Después del desayuno mi hermano y yo salimos dispuestos a explorar y averiguar un poco sobre unos edificios abandonados detrás del hotel. Me intrigan mucho los lugares espeluznantes, aunque debo admitir que no soy la más valiente, siempre me gana la curiosidad y los deseos de saber la historia de los lugaes abandonados. No pudimos acercarnos demasiado, no había nadie en el área pero lo percibimos demasiado peligroso y luego nos fijamos en que más abajo (muy poco visible en mi opinión) había un cartel de “Peligo de Derrumbe”. No pude sacar ninguna foto desde esa zona, pues se nos acercó un señor diciendo que no se podían tomar fotos de las ruinas, así que salimos de allí bastante decepcionados con nuestra aventura fallida. Me quedé con la sensación de no haber capturado suficiente desde el balcón del hotel, quizás mañana intentemos tomar mejores fotos, me gustaría poder encapsular en una imagen la melancolía de aquel lugar olvidado.
We spent some time at the beach and returned to the hotel to have breakfast together. After breakfast, my brother and I set out to explore and find out a bit about some abandoned buildings behind the hotel. I am very intrigued by spooky places, although I must admit that I am not the bravest, curiosity always wins over fear and the desire to know the history of abandoned places. We couldn't get too close, there was no one in the area but we found it too dangerous, and then we noticed that further down (barely visible in my opinion) there was a sign saying "Danger of Collapse." I couldn't take any photos from that area, as a man approached us saying that photos of the ruins were not allowed, so we left quite disappointed with our failed adventure. I kept the feeling of not having captured enough from the balcony of the hotel, maybe tomorrow we will try to take better photos, I would like to encapsulate in an image the melancholy of that forgotten place.
Fuimos a la playa para sustituir esa sensación de fracaso por una de paz, y después de un almuerzo en familia y una buena siesta, decidimos relajarnos en la piscina por la tarde, aunque después fuimos a la playa de nuevo. Pasé la mayoría del tiempo con mi hermanita, disfrutando de su risa contagiosa y su entusiasmo por el agua. Aunque no tuve muchas oportunidades para fotografiar, guardé en mi memoria esos momentos de felicidad compartida. La tarde pasó rápido entre juegos y chapuzones, creando recuerdos que atesoraría para siempre.
We went to the beach to replace that feeling of failure with one of peace, and after a family lunch and a good nap, we decided to relax by the pool in the afternoon. I spent most of the time with my little sister, enjoying her contagious laughter and enthusiasm for the water. Although I didn't have many opportunities to take photos, I stored in my memory those moments of shared happiness. The afternoon passed quickly between games and splashes, creating memories that I would treasure forever.
Al caer la noche, cuando íbamos a subir a las habitaciones para ducharnos, nos topamos con un cangrejo que me sorprendió y asustó bastante. A pesar del susto inicial, logré tomarle una foto antes de que se alejara, porque claro, él estaba mucho más asustado que yo. Fue un encuentro inesperado que añadió un toque de emoción a nuestra jornada.
Por la noche, nos dirigimos al espectáculo del hotel, que variaba cada día. Aquella noche fue el turno de un comediante de stand up que nos hizo reír a carcajadas con sus ocurrencias y chistes ingeniosos. Después del show, subimos a la habitación y pasamos unas horas jugando a juegos de mesa, riendo y disfrutando de la compañía familiar.
As night fell, when we were going back to our rooms to take a shower, we came across a crab that surprised and scared me quite a bit. Despite the initial scare, I managed to take a photo of it before it scurried away because, of course, he was much more scared than I was. It was an unexpected encounter that added a touch of excitement to our day.
In the evening, we headed to the hotel's show, which varied each day. That night featured a stand-up comedian who made us laugh out loud with his wit and clever jokes. After the show, we went back to our room and spent a few hours playing board games, laughing, and enjoying each other's company.
Eso fue todo mi día, al terminar de jugar todos se acostaron a dormir, yo intenté hacerlo pero no podía acostarme sin relatar antes esta maravilla de día. Me siento muy agradecida por poder disfrutar de estas pequeñas alegrías en medio de la rutina diaria. La playa, los amaneceres, los melancólicos edificios abandonados, las risas compartidas son recuerdos que guardaré con cariño para siempre. 💖
That was my whole day, after finishing playing everyone went to bed, I tried to do so too but I couldn't go to bed without recounting this wonderful day first. I feel very grateful for being able to enjoy these small joys amidst daily routine. The beach, the sunrises, the melancholic abandoned buildings, the shared laughter are memories that I will cherish forever. 💖
