Sin duda alguna, el día de San Valentín se la pasa mejor cuando uno está enamorado de una persona o ama profundamente a sus amigos, de lo contrario es un día bastante triste. O incluso también puede ser un día más del año, un día más de la semana o un día más de cualquier mes porque hay que personas que realmente no le prestan atención. Particularmente yo era una persona que no le prestaba atención al día de San Valentín, porque nunca había tenido días especiales, a pesar de haber tenido dos relaciones bastante serias, ninguna fue tan especial para que el día de San Valentín estuviese cargado de amor, especialmente por el trato que recibía ese día, no es que los otros días fuesen malos del todo, simplemente que ese día en particular no pasaba nada relevante.
Without a doubt, Valentine's Day is best spent when you are in love with a person or love your friends deeply, otherwise it's a pretty sad day. Or it can also be just another day of the year, another day of the week or another day of any month because some people don't really pay attention to it. Particularly I was a person who did not pay attention to Valentine's Day, because I had never had special days, despite having had two fairly serious relationships, neither was so special that Valentine's Day was loaded with love, especially for the treatment I received on that day, not that the other days were bad at all, just that nothing relevant happened on that particular day.
Este año no hubo absolutamente ninguna relación, pero sí fue un día cargado de muchísima amistad y creo que a nivel de amigos este es el primer año que la pasó también. Les cuento un poco de lo que fue mi día de San Valentín, inicié el día en la universidad, ya que había ido a recoger un reconocimiento por ser uno de los mejores promedios del trimestre pasado, el segundo peor promedio de la universidad, cosa que realmente no esperaba. Luego estuve ayudando a una amiga que tenía que hacer de cupido, haciendo unos favores de buscar arreglos y llevarlos a una persona. Fue un momento bastante divertido y lindo de ver. También estuvimos acompañando a otra de nuestras amigas a comprar cintas para poder decorar su caja de regalos, que le iba a dar a su pareja o casi algo, no lo sé, pero también fue un lindo momento ya que por lo menos tiene alguien especial en su vida.
This year there was absolutely no relationship, but it was a day full of a lot of friendship and I think that this is the first year that it happened as well. I started the day at the university, as I had gone to pick up an award for being one of the best averages of last term, the second worst average of the university, which I really did not expect. Then I was helping a friend who had to play cupid, doing some favors of looking for arrangements and bringing them to a person. It was a pretty fun and cute moment to watch. We were also accompanying another one of our friends to buy ribbons so she could decorate her gift box, which she was going to give to her significant other or almost something, I don't know, but it was also a nice moment since at least she has someone special in her life.
Luego estuve yendo al centro comercial Traki, ya que tenía que comprar algunas cosas para mi casa, especialmente regalos. A mí me tocó ser cupido en este momento, ya que estaba comprando el regalo que mi papá le iba a dar a mi mamá y también estuve comprando el regalo que mi mamá le iba a dar a mi papá. Ambos se regalaron un reloj y una cadena, todo escogido por mí claramente. Y también estuve comprando algunas chucherías que mi mamá le quería regalar a mi hermanito y yo aproveché de traerme algunas cosas para mí. Por otro lado, digamos que mis regalos de San Valentín fue una hamburguesa de Arturo’s, ya que es una de mis comidas favoritas y como sabía que iba a estar bastante tiempo en la calle, pues decidí almorzar algo y tenía que ser esto porque no podía pasar la oportunidad.
Then I was going to Traki mall, as I had to buy some things for my house, especially gifts. It was my turn to be cupid at this time, as I was shopping for the gift my dad was going to give my mom and I was also shopping for the gift my mom was going to give my dad. They both got each other a watch and a chain, all picked out by me clearly. And I was also buying some knick-knacks that my mom wanted to give to my little brother and I took the opportunity to bring some things for myself. On the other hand, let's say that my Valentine's Day gift was a hamburger from Arturo's, since it is one of my favorite foods and since I knew I was going to be out for a long time, I decided to have something for lunch and it had to be this because I couldn't pass the opportunity.
La verdad es que luego de hacer todas esas vueltas, simplemente llegué a mi casa a repartir literalmente todos los regalos. Sentí que estaba en Navidad otra vez, pero versión, amor y amistad. Mi mamá me regaló unos anillos muy lindos y mi hermano menor regaló un peluche pequeño de capybara rosado. Luego sí tuve una salida con otros de mis amigos, la cual estuvo bastante bien, pero esa es una anécdota y una experiencia que se las voy a compartir en otra oportunidad. Espero que les haya encantado haber conocido mi experiencia en este día de San Valentín y espero que ustedes también hayan pasado un feliz día, nos leemos pronto!
The truth is that after doing all those laps, I just came home to literally hand out all the presents. I felt like I was at Christmas again, but version, love and friendship. My mom gave me some really cute rings and my younger brother gave me a little pink capybara stuffed animal. Then I did have an outing with some of my other friends, which was pretty cool, but that is an anecdote and an experience that I will share with you another time.
