In recent days, after an inspection by the municipality at my workplace, I was asked to update my health booklet, since being a food handler, it is important to ensure my good health to perform this position.
So I had to make an appointment to do it, a process that my employers did, because they also had to do it, and they managed to make all 3 appointments for the same day and time.
As a strategy on their part, they usually make the appointments for the last shift, so as not to hinder the work during working hours, but also to avoid the long waiting times that are generated early in the day.
The bad thing was that we had to fast for at least 3 hours before the blood test, but we had to take the first urine sample, so we had to keep it cold to avoid contamination during the first working day.
We finished the morning schedule, and it occurred to me to make a couple of sandwiches to hold a little hunger after the blood test, as we all have the habit of eating after closing the place, and wow, it saved us, because in the hospital we had to wait a long time.
Although there were few people waiting, we did not count on the fact that the employees were on their lunch break, so there was only one person attending to each service, which made the process quite slow.
First we went to the registration area, where they verified the appointment, the data, and gave us the ticket to make the payment, and we had to wait for the cashier to call us. The total amount was 15,800 pesos (16$ approximately) which covers the blood test, urine test and chest x-ray, which is really cheap compared to private medicine.
Once the fees were paid, we had to go up to the second floor to wait for them to call us to take the blood sample, and it was there where my stomach began to complain loudly, because although it was a simple procedure, the truth is that they took as long as if they were doing an open heart surgery.
It was during that wait when @palabras1 summoned me to the podcast, and from there came the whole mess that we presented in the @hiveargentina community. Not only was it not the place, but hunger was already putting me in a bad mood!
Of the three of us, I was the last one to be called. The nurse made me a bit nervous, as she was palpating my arm so often, I was afraid she wouldn't find the vein, although I've never had a problem with that, but since she didn't do the extraction fast, maybe it could happen.... Thank God it didn't.
Then we went back down to the X-ray room where the process was much faster, but we still had to wait a bit. In the end we spent most of our break time doing this procedure, leaving only a moment to eat our sandwiches before reopening the shop for the second shift.
It was a pretty exhausting day, but the good thing is that now the notebook is digital, so in a couple of days it will arrive in my mail. I hope to God that there are no complications that will make me go back for a check-up with a doctor. I will let you know the results.
En días pasados, luego de una inspección por parte de la municipalidad en mi sitio de trabajo, me pidieron que actualizara mi libreta sanitaria, ya que al ser manipuladora de alimentos, es importante que se garantice mi buen estado de salud para desempeñar este cargo.
Así que tocaba hacer la cita para realizarlo, proceso que hicieron mis patronos, debido a que ellos también debían hacerla, y lograron sacar las 3 para el mismo día y hora.
Como estrategia de su parte, suelen pedir las citas para el último turno, de manera de no entorpecer las labores en el horario de trabajo, pero también para evitar los largos tiempos de espera que se generan a primera hora del día.
Lo malo era que debíamos permanecer en ayunas por lo menos 3 horas antes de que nos hicieran el examen de sangre, pero debíamos tomar la primera muestra de orina, así que tocaba tenerla en frío para evitar contaminación durante la primera jornada laboral.
Terminamos el horario de la mañana, y se me ocurrió hacer un par de sandwich para aguantar un poco el hambre luego del examen de sangre, pues ya todos tenemos el hábito de comer luego de cerrar el local, y vaya que nos salvó, pues en el hospital tuvimos que esperar un buen rato.
Aunque habían pocas personas esperando, no contábamos con que los empleados estaban en su hora de almuerzo, por lo que solo había uno atendiendo por servicio, lo cual hacía que el proceso fuera bastante lento.
Primeramente pasamos a la zona de registro, en donde verificaron la cita, los datos, y nos dieron la boleta para hacer el pago, debiendo esperar a que nos llamaran de la caja. El monto total fue de 15.800 pesos (16$ aproximadamente) que abarca el examen de sangre, orina y rayos X de tórax, lo cual es realmente económico en comparación con la medicina privada.
Una vez cancelados los aranceles, tuvimos que subir al primer piso a esperar que nos llamaran para sacar la muestra de sangre, y fue ahí donde el estómago empezó a reclamar fuertemente, pues aunque se trataba de un procedimiento sencillo, la verdad se tardaron como si estuvieran haciendo una operación a corazón abierto.
Fue durante esa espera cuando @palabras1 me convoca al podcast, y de ahí surgió todo el enredo que presentamos en la comunidad de @hiveargentina. No solo no era el lugar, sino que el hambre ya me estaba poniendo de mal humor!
De los tres, fui la última a quien llamaron. La enfermera me puso un tanto nerviosa, pues palpaba mi brazo con tanta frecuencia, que me daba temor que no encontrara la vena, aunque nunca he tenido problemas con eso, pero ya que no hacía rápido la extracción, quizás podía pasar... Gracias a Dios no fue así.
Luego volvimos a bajar a la sala de rayos X donde el proceso fue mucho más rápido, pero igual tuvimos que esperar un poco. Al final invertimos casi todo el tiempo de descanso en realizar este procedimiento, quedando solo un momento para comernos los sandwich antes de volver a abrir el local para el segundo turno laboral.
Fue un día bastante agotador, pero lo bueno es que ahora la libreta es digital, por lo que en un par de días llegará a mi correo. Espero Dios mediante que no haya ninguna complicación que me haga regresar para un chequeo con un médico. Ya les estaré comentando los resultados.
