Los jueves son nuestro día libre del trabajo y aunque mayormente los aprovechamos para quedarnos en casa a descansar últimamente han sido los días en los que salimos para hacer alguna diligencia porque es preferible hacerlas en nuestro día libre que perder un día o mañana de trabajo.
Thursdays are our day off from work and although we mostly take advantage of them to stay home and rest, lately they have been the days when we go out to run some errands because it is preferable to do them on our day off than to lose a day or morning of work.
Este jueves nos tocó salir al centro a hacer unos trámites y averiguar unas cosas, así que nos fuimos temprano para desocuparnos lo antes posible para poder descansar la tarde en casa. Luego de terminar nuestros pendientes en el centro pasamos por la plaza Rui Barbosa y aunque ya antes habíamos pasamos por ahí nunca nos habíamos detenido en ese lugar.
This Thursday we had to go downtown to run some errands and find out a few things, so we left early to clear our minds as soon as possible so we could rest at home in the afternoon. After finishing our errands downtown we passed by the Rui Barbosa square and although we had passed by there before, we had never stopped there.
A lo lejos vimos que había una estatua y nos acercamos a ver de que se trataba. De cerca pudimos ver que era la figura de un par de hombres de uniforme con una manguera y en la inscripción a un lado de esta leímos que se trataba de un homenaje al cuerpo de bomberos del estado de Paraná (Brasil) el cual fue creado en el año 1912 por el entonces presidente de la provincia Carlos Cavalcanti. Dicha conmemoracion fue realizada en el año 2012 al cumplirse 100 años de la creación de este cuerpo de bomberos.
In the distance we saw a statue and we approached it to see what it was. Up close we could see that it was the figure of a couple of men in uniform with a hose and in the inscription on one side we read that it was a tribute to the fire department of the state of Paraná (Brazil) which was created in 1912 by the then president of the province Carlos Cavalcanti. This commemoration was held in 2012 on the 100th anniversary of the creation of this fire department.
La verdad me pareció bastante interesante esta estatua y aun más saber un poco de su historia y es que aunque aún no conozco mucho de esta ciudad ver este tipo de conmemoraciones en plazas o en cualquier rincón de la ciudad me permiten conocer un poco más de ella y eso me encanta.
I actually found this statue quite interesting and even more interesting to know a little about its history. Even though I still don't know much about this city, seeing this type of commemoration in squares or in any corner of the city allows me to learn a little more about it and I love that.
