Do you sometimes feel like you are not reaching your training potential? Or do you feel restricted when performing certain day-to-day movement such as carrying groceries and lifting objects from the ground?
The reason is that your mobility (one the the fitness attributes) is limited and doing mobility exercises will definitely help! Mobility training allows your joints to move through their full range of motion, hence optimizing performance.
Why you should incorporate mobility training into your fitness routine?
#1: Improve your fitness performance
- Mobility training helps you perform better as it increases the range of motion in your joints. If you want to run faster, jump higher, squat and lift more efficiently, mobility training is very important.
#2: Injury prevention
- If a certain part of your body lacks mobility, you will find yourself overcompensating it with other muscles and joints, which may lead to injury.
#3: Promotes good posture
- Bad body posture is very common in the modern world where most people work 9-5 desk-bound jobs. It leads to forward head and rounded shoulders. Therefore, doing mobility exercises such as cat cow, world's greatest stretch, and Y shoulder raises can be useful to correct your posture.
You don't need a 30 minutes mobility session every single day to reap the benefits. Start small and gradually make it a habit of yours. For me, starting with a 5 to 10 mins routine, done 3 to 4 times a week is a good start. But, for others, they may find that they could do it everyday. That's good for them too! Ultimately, incorporate a program that suits your lifestyle!
