El período dedicado a los juegos intrafacultad es el momento propicio para cambiar de dinámica, refrescar de los estudios y prepararnos físicamente para asumir retos en el deporte. Desde hace unos años nuestra universidad ha implementado una variedad de dichos juegos para así mantener la vida de sus estudiantes balanceadas respecto a mente y cuerpo. Estos juegos en específico dan paso a los juegos Guamá que agrupan los mejores estudiantes deportistas universitarios de todas las facultades. Estos eventos se realizan anualmente, y en este caso las carreras de Sociocultural, Derecho y Lenguas Extranjeras competían por vacantes en los juegos a nivel de universidad.
Desperté bien temprano y llamé a mi amigo Yunior dado que ambos íbamos a participar en la carrera de orientación y queríamos llegar juntos para evitar perdernos entre la multitud. Al llegar se realizó la gala inaugural y acto seguidos nos ubicaron por deportes. Yo, al cumplir funciones de profesora y estudiante, tenía que estar supervisando el bádminton y participar en la carrera de orientación a su vez. Por suerte para mí, ambos deportes tenían horarios diferentes y podía alternar ambas participaciones tanto como supervisora o como deportista.
Al culminar de recibir las indicaciones, nos dirigimos a la pista donde se iba a efectuar el maratón, el salto largo y la carrera de orientación. Lo primero fue el maratón, donde una de nuestras amigas participaba y le dimos ánimos hasta la última vuelta a la pista. Fue la tercera en entrar pero fue todo un logro personal para ella dado que mejoró su marca y nosotros estábamos más que orgullosos por ella. Al culminar, empezamos a calentar dado que en 10 minutos empezaba la carrera. Después de esto, vimos las participaciones en el salto y al terminar estas, empezó la tan esperada por nosotros, carrera de orientación.
La primera parte consistió en orientarnos y explicarnos como era la dinámica dado que muchos estudiantes nunca habían participado en este tipo de carreras. Pasado esto, nos dieron brújulas y las respectivas orientaciones por pistas. El objetivo era recopilarlas por orden y no violar el mismo para luego llegar a la meta. Al comenzar leímos las instrucciones de la pista número 1 y nos ubicamos en el terreno, demoramos alrededor de 7 minutos en encontrar la pista pero íbamos con buen tiempo dado que los demás participantes tenían ciertas dudas a la hora de orientarse. Entre la pista 2 y tres hicimos un tiempo de 15 minutos aunque tuvimos que reposar durante 5 minutos dada la extensión del terreno. ¡¡¡Quedamos en primer lugar y vamos a los Juegos Guamá!!! Fue una experiencia maravillosa y digna de repetir. En los días que se avecinan estaremos preparándonos para los Juegos a nivel de universidad que se efectuarán del 20 al 25 de marzo.
Por el momento lo que nos queda es prepararnos y mantener el buen ánimo para la próxima carrera. Ambos estamos cada día más fuertes mentalmente y físicamente. Además, seguros estamos que en los juegos gritaremos bien alto GO BEARS!!! Todo por nuestra universidad.

The period dedicated to intra-faculty games is the right time to change dynamics, refresh ourselves from our studies and prepare ourselves physically to take on challenges in sports. For some years now, our university has implemented a variety of such games in order to keep the life of its students balanced in terms of mind and body. These specific games give way to the Guamá games that bring together the best university student athletes from all faculties. These events are held annually, and in this case the Sociocultural, Law and Foreign Languages departments competed for slots in the games at the university level.
I woke up early and called my friend Yunior since we were both going to participate in the orienteering race and we wanted to arrive together to avoid getting lost in the crowd. When we arrived, the opening gala was held and we were then sorted by sport. I, being both a teacher and a student, had to be supervising badminton and participating in the orienteering race at the same time. Luckily for me, both sports had different schedules and I could alternate my participation both as a supervisor and as an athlete.
After receiving the instructions, we headed to the track where the marathon, the long jump and the orienteering race were going to take place. First up was the marathon, where one of our friends was participating and we cheered her on until the last lap of the track. She came in third but it was a personal achievement for her as she improved her personal best and we were more than proud of her. At the finish, we started to warm up as the race was about to start in 10 minutes. After that, we watched the jumping participations and when they were finished, the long awaited orienteering race started.
The first part consisted of orienting us and explaining the dynamics, since many students had never participated in this type of race before. After that, we were given compasses and the respective orientations by clues. The objective was to compile them in order and not violate the same to then reach the goal. At the beginning we read the instructions of track number 1 and we located ourselves in the terrain, it took us about 7 minutes to find the track but we were making good time since the other participants had some doubts when it came to orienting themselves. Between track 2 and 3 we made a time of 15 minutes although we had to rest for 5 minutes due to the extension of the terrain, we were in first place and we are going to the Guamá Games!!!! It was a wonderful experience and worth repeating. In the days to come we will be preparing for the university level games to be held March 20-25.
For the moment what we have left is to prepare ourselves and keep our spirits up for the next race. We are both getting stronger mentally and physically every day. Besides, we are sure that in the games we will shout GO BEARS!!!! All for our university.
