Hello, dear friends!

This is the first time I’m writing in this community, but I’ve been looking for a place to share one of my hobbies, which is creating useful things by recycling items that some people might otherwise throw away.
Those who follow me in other communities know that I have both cats and dogs, to whom I am very attached. Sometimes I think of them and try to fulfill all their comfort needs to make them feel as good as possible. Just recently, I was thinking about making a new doghouse for my little one.

It so happened that my sister was about to throw away some 1 cm polystyrene panels and artificial grass that she had bought a few years ago but no longer used. That’s when the great idea of creating a doghouse struck me.
I forgot to take pictures of the various steps because I was so focused on the project, thinking intensely about how to put it all together.

The only thing I bought was some transparent silicone for about 4 euros, and I retrieved some zippers from my dad. Oh, and I almost forgot—my sister was also about to throw away a small wavy roof, and I saved that too.

In about two hours of work, I created a covered doghouse with an entrance where my dog can get in, and there’s even a small window where she can peek outside to keep an eye on things.
Since the bottom is made of polystyrene, there’s an insulating layer between the floor and my dog, so she won’t get cold. On top of the doghouse, I put the artificial grass because she loves to sunbathe. This way, she can lie on top of the house and go outside even if it rains, as I added a sort of roof.

Initially, the project included a few steps to get to the top floor, but in the end, she jumps like a kangaroo, so she doesn’t need them.

I hope you enjoyed my idea! Every now and then, my creative hobby leads me to make something useful, and the fact that I managed to reuse almost 90% of items that were about to be thrown away made me really happy.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this post. See you in the next one, and a big hug to all!

Quite creative. You seem to have better skills than most of the men in this so called modern world.

Do the cats get along with the dogs ?

Of course, dogs get along with cats, but those who say otherwise are just hearsay.
