This day, 5 years ago I adopted my black cat Buffy.

A friend of mine had a cat and she had kittens, when she told me that black kittens were born I immediately asked for one to adopt, my friend knew that the kitten would be in a good home because she knows how much I take care of Whisky, my calico cat so she didn't have any doubts the kitten would be happy.

At first, Whisky wasn't very happy at the idea of sharing her turf but less than a week later she was taking care of little Buffy, she even taught her how to use the litter box :D

Buffy has been with me during work, while I read, when I play videogames, even when I get sick both of my cats lie down next to me.

She shows love her own way... and likes to receive it on her terms too, she doesn't like to be pet very often but wants to be close all the time, at night she purrs and meows for my attention but not to be pet, she just wants to be under the bed sheets when I'm about to sleep, and as soon as I get up in the morning she jumps off the bed because she knows that after I go to the bathroom I refill their bowls of food.

During day, she loves to sleep in the same spot, she doesn't share my own couch with me, she only shares it with Whisky... and well, I'm okay with that by now, they let me use the bigger one :P

I like to think that I've given her and Whisky a good life here with me, and I hope we remain together for many years more.

And even though now she's bigger than Buffy, some old habits from when she was a little kitten are hard to get rid off...

She's my little panther, and even though I named her after Buffy Summers from Buffy the vampire Slayer, I don't relate the name with the slayer anymore, Buffy is a one of a kind cat.

Every day she surprises me with finding new hide spots, some very obvious, other hard to find, one day she really scared me because I couldn't find her... turned out she was hidden in the closet under my dark clothes :S she slept for hours there, but at least I'm sure they can't leave the apartment, they don't like to be outside, even when I leave the door open they stay inside.

Today, as usual, both are on their spot in their favorite couch while I'm cleaning our home, and just look at them... in their little faces you can see they know they own me, not the other way around :P

Every home should have a black cat!

I'm totally in alignment with that @nikv!

=^..^=

Lovely story, and how nice that they got along so well from the beginning! We are thinking about getting a couple of kittens... and we have a 5-year old cat already.

Your post was featured in this week's Caturday Compendium of Cat Content, curated by the Hive Cats Community! Thank you for sharing your wonderful cat-related content on Hive!

I was worried they would fight and/or hurt each other, but they are good sisters now :3

How sweet!
I always wonder if my cat will allow me to welcome another cat to our home.
Awwwww… I love your story!

Introduce them slowly, just when I saw Whisky bathing Buffy I Knew she accepted it and had nothing to worry about
