This is Ms. Kitty the desert rodent assassin cat. She is the caretaker of my uncle's b&b in the desert. Here is a desert assassin cat for this #caturday
She is named after a famous character in Tombstone Arizona who owned a bar as well as a brothel in the old west. There is still a tourist trap store named Ms. Kitty's in Tombstone to this day.
Here she is prowling the wood piles for pack rats. The desert of Arizona is full of rodents and they tend to make huge nests in people's gutters and they like to chew electrical wires and cause general destruction.
I heard a crash in the wood pile then looked back in the shed area where she likes to hang out and heard some squeaking.
One last bite and the packrat was dead.
She acted like she was giving it to me but when I got too close she started growling, second thoughts about the rat gift.
Now she wants it for herself. Fortunately she stays in a shed area so these pack rat gifts and her dust bath filth don't really get into the house.
The dusty wild cat has done her job for the day, this pack rat will no longer be chewing electrical wires or making huge messes in the gutters around the house.
Here is the more refined indoor cat Milva. She patrols the inside just in case any tiny rodents like shrews find their way into the b&b.
She doesn't like being outside as much and usually runs back in after inspecting the outdoors for a minute or so.
Out in the desert it is essential to have an indoor/outdoor cat. There are many different types of rodents that love to nest in and around people's houses to escape the heat outside as well as the cold winter nights. The trick is to train them not to eat lizards as they carry worms. A spray bottle or super soaker usually does the trick if you catch them stalking a lizard. Rewarding them for rodent captures is also key.
That's all for this #caturday thanks for looking :-)

Kitty knows you don't cook from unprocessed meat
She loves her free range organic rodent meat.
this cat looks very dashing. Looks like he's really good at finding mice
Yeah it was only out for a couple minutes before it caught the pack rat, quite a good mouser.
Yes, my friends, there are also a lot of rats that disturb farmers' crops
How big are the rats over there? I'm sure they get large eating farmer's crops.
but here the mice are a bit small, but there are also a lot of them
Hmm maybe snakes would be a better deterrent.
very scary looking cat. must be a reliable mouse hunter
She is scary once she has her prey. Otherwise she is a normal cat but once she has a mouse she starts growling at you.
Maybe it's shown to us as a protective force for him and thinks we're going to do something about it.
They are possessive of their prey.
