Beer flavors from the old and new continent

in BEER3 days ago

Day after day passes, and I cannot share my experience of this week in this jubilee 400th #BeerSaturday week of gathering of beer lovers.

I haven't been with you for a long time, I'm only 50 weeks old (so I can celebrate my jubilee at the same time 🙂), but I have to admit that the real enjoyment is the quotes about the beers that you tasted, as well as tasting the beers that I present to you.

As for me, I'm drinking Robocraft beers again, about which I've already written so many times here.

This time I decided to taste beers with the same amount of alcohol, but two different styles.

I had a Gundam Rage beer, an American IPA and a Nano Vision New England IPA.

American IPA and New England IPA (NEIPA) are two very popular beer styles that fall under India Pale Ale (IPA), but the differences are noticeable in taste, appearance and mouthfeel.

Already after pouring into a glass, the difference in appearance is noticeable. Although both beers are unfiltered and unpasteurized.

American IPA is transparent and clear, dark yellow in color, while NE IPA is opaque and cloudy, its appearance is like some thick juice. The yellow color of this beer is beautiful.

While American IPA has a strong smell of citrus and pine, NE IPA has a distinct fruity smell (the smell of tropical fruit, mango and orange.

And the biggest difference is felt at the first sip.

The large amounts of hops used in the preparation of American IPA give this beer a very bitter taste, and the aftertaste is dry and refreshing. While the minor bitterness of NE IPA leaves a juicy trail in the mouth, with a smooth and creamy structure.

The refreshing and tropical flavors softened the feeling of alcohol in these two beers, but they were enough to relax me a little.

In my opinion, after tasting both beers, it is clear to me why the NE IPA style was developed. They created it as a reaction to overly bitter American IPA beers and thus brought these hoppy beers closer to those who don't prefer bitter tastes.

Cheers!
