Hello Everyone!
I suppose, this is officially my first entry to The #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 299. I've written a couple beer reviews in the past but never really officially joined the challenge. And today it's my first time joining along with my first experience tasting amber red lager beer.
Today I tasted something not-so-regular. It was my first time trying amber lager beer. Back home, I didn’t find any and they were all mostly pale lager. Also, I am a fan of Guinness and any beer with strong malty taste and even stouts. That’s why even at 7/11 they have a few selections including Hoegaarden Rosé with a cute can. I decided to pick beer with roasted caramel malt taste. The can itself was just like its name, covered with a picture of Black Dragon. It was quite interesting and how a can should be. In Thailand, 7/11 sells non-boring cans and those can can be a little collectibles. But I don’t know if shipping cans are allowed so, maybe I can’t collect all the cans which is unfortunate 🥹

First of all, I didn’t even know that amber red beer existed. When I got it, I thought it was going to be dark but when I poured it, I was quite surprised by the color. It was indeed amber red.
On my first pour, it wasn’t as foamy as stouts and just medium rising bubbles. When I had my first sip, it was smooth and was really refreshing especially when me and the people from the hostel had BBQ. So, I think I picked the right pairings because even according to Craftbeer.com, they are good with grilled meats and vegetables.
I was really fascinated by how it tastes and I can drink them everyday. Considering that the price was 50 Baht, it was a fairly reasonable price back home, I couldn’t get any drink at that price. The size was also quite large and I was satisfied with it.
Some of my acquaintances at hostel were from Germany and they told me that I shouldn’t drink with ice but who cares 😂, it was really hot and I needed something refreshing. When I asked one guy to sip, he was telling me that he couldn’t taste the alcohol and it was too light for him. He even joked about Reinheitsgebot because that beer has rice in it and I ended up calling him beer nazi 😂, of course jokingly. He ended up telling me that I might really love Germany, especially when I enjoyed drinking beer and being nerd about it. I told him that maybe I’d like it but for now, I am really enjoying the variety of beer selections in Thailand. Just like I said, this place is heaven and hell. It has everything I love but also everything that could make me sick 🤣

Oh, this past years and I could no longer remember when, I honestly don't like the taste of beer. The scent lingers to my nose I am trying to have a sip.
Maybe because I consumed too much of it in my younger years (the disadvantages of having a drunkard father) 🤣.
Now I prefer something stronger that feels like fire 🔥🔥 passed down my throat 🤣.
For 50baht, I converted it to peso , it was somehow affordable... And I would mistake it as ice tea, because of the color.
Oh wow! I started drinking early but with everything, I look at it more like as a fascination. It's probably not something good but I really enjoyed tasting different beer and variants. What kind of drink do you mostly enjoy?
I started drinking at 16 🤣, my older brother trained me.. He believes that, I am in my teenage years already and sooner I might try drinking so it is better to train me so if I am with friends I already know how to carry myself and get that tolerance ..
Now? I seldom drink the last time I got drunk was maybe three years ago? And the last time I drank was only Smirnoff 😁
Actually same story but I was around 12-13 when I started and it was a vodka mix max. I kinda love it. I guess it what influenced me to be alcoholic hahaxD
A great example how a #BeerSaturday post should be. Enjoy your travel and see you in week 300 - next week.
As a German, living in Belgium since many years, I can say that Reinheitsgebot was needed at the times it was invented, but nowadays it is a showstopper for all the great tastes.
See you in week 300! It's probably a bit of joke at this point hehe and I heard that a couple of times by now.
The color looks so cute haha. Beers are really refreshing. Especially with ice. So don't worry about what others think. Also congratulations on your first participation in the event. My friend @zekepickleman has been doing this for years 😂.
I am actually looking forward trying Rose, I wonder what the color would look like. So, that's for next week :D
I am looking forward to next week 👀
Oh now I want one as well! Many moons ago, I brewed some amber ales myself. They can be nice and refreshing in contrast to the heavy IPAs. Reinheitsgebot is a funny thing. In my country, South Africa, some people still uphold it, but many people love experimenting so we have various new types of beers popping. Enjoy it! (Especially for that price.)
How difficult is it to brew your own amber ale? I mean if it's easy enough, I would do it. Also, it's weird with the Reinheitsgebot like it's strange but I guess it's what people still believe it to be 😂. I mean, as time progress, there are different types of beer and that makes it interesting. It's just like how coffee creations over time as well.
Sorry for the week delay. What a hellish week.
Brewing beer is very simple. If you make it on small scale, it is super easy. You can either do "all grain" or not. All grain you need to extract the sugar from the barley yourself, or you can already buy the extracted syrup (which is a lot easier but does not give you much freedom to experiment). Boil the sugary thing (wort) add hops, let it ferment for 2-4 weeks, bottle it and there you have beer!
That was obviously a very oversimplified process but it is basically that.
I know this might be a little stereotyping but I never thought I'd see you writing a post on drinking beer😂😂🍻
Big cheers to that🍻🍺
!BEER
hahaha how come? I actually like writing about beer but there were only a few options where I am from and I am sure I've reviewed many of them already :D
I have no idea, im just not used to women drinking beer... Usually the tarty girls can pull up their noses for the best of beers😂 like 1 out of a 1000 would drink beer😂🍻
Kudos to that though😁

.Ah a good amber is an excellent choice for a BBQ. Around these parts, it is strange to put ice cubes in beer but it brings back memories of Tiger over ice in Thailand.
Great to meet you and I hope we share many beers together on #beersaturday.
