MY FAVORITE BEERS

in BEER24 days ago
Hello BEER community, although I am already part of this world of writing and blockhain, I have not written for a while here and I decided to get back to it, and it is the first time that I write in this community of beer lovers, a love that I also share without a doubt! To introduce myself I want to tell you a little about myself and what my favorite beers are.

I am from Venezuela and I have lived in Mexico City for three years, and in my activities of adaptation and getting to know new cultures, obviously this includes trying and enjoying the city's beer offerings, since I am a true fan of beers (CERVEZAS), I can drink other liquors but the happiness that the taste of a good beer gives me is irreplaceable!

Now, the beer field in Mexico is quite broad in both commercial and craft beers, and they come in many forms of presentation. The one that surprised me the most was the presentation called “Caguama” which is approximately 1.2 liters, and the word comes from the name of a very large sea turtle, to refer to this large container, which also works for all commercial brands and is very easy to access.

Although I understand that the most popular Mexican beer commercially outside of Mexico is "Corona", I must say that it is not one of my favorites, this beer is clear and very light in flavor, I like dark beers and strong flavors the most, the one I like the most is Bohemia Oscura (Viennese Lager type) its color is brown and its flavor is strong with a certain smoky sweetness, and it also has a touch of malt and caramel, although it is not as malty, with 4.9% alcohol, and like all beer I like to drink it very cold. This brand of beer has other presentations: Cristal, which is a Lager type; the Pilsner, which is also clear, (I don't like it almost at all); the Weizen, a beer made with wheat and Noche Buena, a Bock2 style beer that is quite amalt for my taste and is only sold in December and the aesthetics of the packaging are actually red.

Then I like the Modelo Negra which is a Munich style Lager with a toasted malt flavor, a very low sweet touch and a soft bitterness, for me it has the perfect combination of bitter and sweet, its color is dark brown with touches of red as well, and it has 5.3% alcohol. It's delicious!

In third place, but no less beloved, is the Cerveza Victoria or “Vicky” as it is affectionately known here, it is a lager type beer also and Vienna style, and it is the oldest brewed here in Mexico, it has been brewed since 1865, its color is light amber, with a flavor that is very much perceived as malt and barley according to my perception, with a level of 4.8% alcohol, it is quite light although its flavor is strong and intense. This brand has a very curious presentation that is only available during the “Day of the Dead” season and is called “Victoria Cempasuchil” which is a type of clear beer made from wheat, with a very soft and floral flavor since it has among its ingredients the Cempasuchil flower, which only occurs in the months of October and November, and is associated with the Day of the Dead festivities that just begin around those dates, the flower is large and almost orange-yellow, and it is the main characteristic of the presentation of this Beer.

Finally, I will talk to you about Indio Beer, which is also a Vienna Lager style. Basically it is made of golden malt and notes of toasted caramel, although they describe it as having a sweet flavor, I find it very bitter and I really don't like its taste or smell, even though it is the type of beer that I like in theory, its alcohol level is 4.1%.

Well, here I leave you a brief guide to the beers from Mexico that I have learned to enjoy, in case you have the opportunity to try them, and that have also accompanied my happy moments here, such as the celebration of my last birthday and my third anniversary in Mexico on 12/30/24 when I accompanied a traditional Pozole with my Bohemia beer. Here are a couple of photos for reference.
