Latzenbier by Schumacher Alt is a seasonal beer that is brewed only three times a year, on the third Thursday of March, September and November. It is a special version of the traditional Altbier, a dark and top-fermented beer that is typical of the Düsseldorf region in Germany. Latzenbier is stronger and fuller in taste than the regular Schumacher Alt, as it is made with more malt and hops. It has an alcohol content of 5.5% and a balanced aroma of malt and hops.

The name Latzenbier comes from the old tradition of storing the best batches of beer "op de Latt" (on the plank) in the cellar, and serving them only on festive occasions or to good friends. The founder of Schumacher brewery, Mathias Schumacher, was known for experimenting with different hop varieties, and he created the first Latzenbier with a stronger hop flavor¹. Today, the Latzenbier is still a popular and celebrated beer that attracts many customers to the Schumacher brewery and its outlets
