For this weekend's #beersaturday adventure, I had to wait an extra day. Yesterday was filled with work, more work, a few open houses to visit for my brother, and more work. Add to that a few Hattie duty moments, and there wasn't much fun for beer. At least I was able to get some fun in today.
Queue my local liquor store's new add, Three Floyds Cat Date. It's a double IPA, and shows up at a hefty 9.5% ABV.
This double is OK. To be honest, it's the kind of double IPA where you can taste the alcohol, and your lips are sticking after slugging a few sips down. I can't say these are my favorites, but it works for a Sunday (I mean #beersaturday).
I like my double IPAs, especially when done well. Again, this one isn't bad for a 9.5%, but the stickiness of the booze/hops...well, I'm not a fan. It tastes ok, but it almost comes off as malt liquor. Sweet, not very hoppy, and strong on the acid reflex burn.
Still, not all was lost while I chugged these down. For a last day of July celebration, we decided to grill up some ribeyes and corn for a festive meal. The meal turned out wonderful. I must say, my grilling skills do keep on improving...even when two 9 percenters in...
The final product...
An easy enough July meal. The beer was ok, but the steaks and corn turned out perfect. I really can't complain for a last weekend of July.
Thanks for taking a look at my #beersaturday share! I hope everyone else out there had a wonderful last weekend of July too!
