This past week, the bay are of California has been seeing record high temperatures all week. This past week Livermore California which is about 10 miles from me had a high of 116 degrees. Most days this past week were to hot to be outside.
This #Beersaturday the temperatures were coming down and my wife and I were going to have some friends from out of town stay the night. Our friends arrived and we enjoyed a glass of Aberlour 12 Year Single Malt Double Cask Scotch Whisky in my home bar before going out to dinner at "Cannery Kitchen and Tap".
This is my home bar and brewery which is located in the room seen through the doorway.
Cannery Kitchen and Tap is located in a small market in Castro Valley. They serve really good food and have about 10 - 12 beers on tap. There is seating indoor and outdoor, we had to sit outside because the restaurant was busy and still hot outside. The small market has four restaurants, a meat market, a bakery, natural grocery store, olive oil shop, spice shop, and two bars.

The following pictures are pictures my wife took of the outside eating area early in the morning so only a few people are in the picture but this area gets busy.
I had my usual Cubano sandwich– smoked pork butt, Fra’Mani ham, house made pickles, gruyere and mustard on wheat panini roll. I also enjoyed a Drakes 1500 Pale Ale.
When we returned back to the house I opened another Drakes 1500 which is easier drinking then my usual IPA's that I drink. The Drakes 1500 is a Pale Ale that has been dry hopped so it is not quite as hoppy as an IPA but a little more then the traditional Pale Ale. The 1500 comes in at 5.5% ABV and brewed with Hallertau Mandarina, Lemondrop, Simcoe, Amarillo, and Cascade hops. This beer is well balanced and can easily be drunk on a hot day.
Drakes is a local brewery in San Leandro, California and very well know in my area. Drakes makes numerous popular beers with one of them being the Denogginizer which I have posted about in a previous #beersaturday post. The denogginizer is popular because it is a double IPA coming in at 9.75% ABV but is still easy drinking and one of my all time favorites.
So one of the reasons our friends came down from the Sierra Mountains to visit was to see our 4 month old Siberian Husky puppy and our newly adopted pony. You can see the new puppy named Timber, next to his swimming pool behind the picture of 1500 above. We sat outside our bar as the evening started and watched Timber play in his pool.
Timber even has his own toy beer bottle.
This is our new adopted pony Olivia, we are not sure how old she is but she lived with donkeys that picked on her so now she lives with our sheep and goats and is very happy.
The last beer of the day was Bear Republic Brewery's "Nor Cal IPA". Bear Republic Brewery is in Rohnert Park, California. Nor Cal IPA is brewed with Citra, Amarillo, and Simcoe hops. This beer is the traditional IPA with the strong hoppy flavors like citrus, passionfruit, and pine. The beer is 7.3% ABV. This is a strong IPA with many complex flavors but is hard to drink more then a couple of them on hot days.
Timber dried off and decided to sit with us as we enjoyed our beers.
It was a great #beersaturday and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.
