Hello, beer tasters! 🍻 😎 🍻
We are back to the new normal, and the celebrations are just a memory.
But #beersaturday will help us get in a good mood. Like a kind of beer meditation :) 😁
Today I have the last two bottles from the Kalea Beer Box.
And then what? It'll be time to go beer hunting again. Either offline or online. As usual, I'll start with lower alcohol beers.
Perlenzauber Dry Hopped
Brewed by Fürstliches Brauhaus, Ellingen, Germany for Kalea Beer Boxes. Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 5.4% ABV.
It's Märzen style, which means
amber-orange to deep reddish-copper colored malty German amber lager with a clean, rich, toasty, and bready malt flavor, restrained bitterness, and a dry finish.
Well, that's a pretty precise explanation, which of course I didn't articulate, but
RateBeer. 😁
What do master brewers have to say about it?
Perlenzauer Dry Hopped is not just a classic festival beer. It was brewed and cold-hopped with a very special aroma of the hop: Hallertauer Gold from Ellingen. The "Gold" gives the beer a hop note that unfolds its slightly citrus-fruity aromas and finishes elegantly with a delicate bitterness.
Ugh, this is definitely a beer for true connoisseurs, that fact alone makes it worth a try ... if all this is true ... this is a translation from German (good tool this Deepl translator, you can quickly translate from one language you don't know very well to another one you don't know well :)) 😎 🍻
Beer is amber in color, the foam is solid and disappears slowly. The beer goes down the throat smoothly, the aroma and taste are mainly malty and caramel, the hop bitterness is not pronounced, and everything disappears quickly in the aftertaste.
The beer is drinkable, I have no complaints about it but I can't say it's more than average, there's nothing exceptional that would make me want it in the fridge or order it again somewhere.
So, now the beer meme will come in handy :)
Budwar Reserve
Brewed by Budějovický Budvar, České Budějovice, Czech Republic. Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 7.4% ABV.
Beer is a strong pale lager style, more common in Eastern Europe with increased malt and alcohol.
What master brewers have to say:
Matured for up to 200 days in the cellars of our brewery in the Czech Republic, this extra matured lager has a more honeyed, more complex taste. Our beer blends rich malt and subtle sweetness with a classic bitter finish from our noble Saaz hops. Budvar Reserve’s ingredients, process, and maturation time make it a unique beer and the pinnacle of the Czech brewing craft. This extra matured lager is worth waiting for!
The unique Budvar. I prefer to drink Budwaiser lager, here, you can get it in all the shops, and as far as industrial beers from the big commercial breweries are concerned, my opinion is that it goes well beyond our local lagers. I have not tasted that Reserve yet.
The beer is clear golden in color, the head is solid. A distinct grassy and malty aroma.
The first sip is very smooth and soft, with the sweetness of the malt, the taste of grass, bread, and honey in the foreground. There is a hint of alcohol. In the aftertaste, everything slowly disappears, and only at the end does the bitterness of the hops remain in the mouth, but it lingers for some time.
The beer is solid, but I miss the freshness. It's clear that it cannot be fresh if it has been aged for 200 days and there is too much alcohol. I think I'll stick with Budvar lager, I'm not going to force myself with this one.
Well, if I come to visit someone and they offer me this beer I won't refuse it :)
And what am I listening to as I write this?
Today, something from yesterday's #newtunes post. One newer band that sounds to me like early Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett, psychedelic and distorted.
