[BEER REVIEW] A Refreshing Milkshake IPA from West Yorkshire 🍺

in BEER3 years ago (edited)

The story of Vocation began in 2015 in John Hickling's kitchen, where he brewed beer in plastic buckets just for fun. Quite soon it became a passion and he sold his house and quit his job to follow his passion. Some six years later Vocation Brewery has replaced the plastic buckets and the kitchen with modern facilities that produce 60000HL in a year.

I've heard very good things about the brewery, so I'm eager to try this Milkshake IPA and see if it lives up to all the hype.

Vocation - Cooler Shaker Passion Fruit Milkshake IPA

Origin: Cragg Vale, West Yorkshire, UK.
Brewery: Vocation Brewery.
Style: Milkshake IPA.
ABV: 6.6%.
Malts: Barley, Oats, Wheat.
Hops: Unknown.
Other: Passionfruit, mamey sapote, lactose, vanilla.
440ml can

Appearance: Medium hazy and pineapple colored.

Nose: Mango and apricot juice. Perhaps some tropical fruit gum.

Palate: Kinda like hoppy and tropical ice cream. Yum. Candied mango and papaya. Definitely not overly sweet. Vanilla wafers also come to mind. Soft carbonation and a wonderfully creamy texture.

Finish: Medium-long and creamy with some spiciness (probably from the mamey sapote).

Conclusion: Despite all the ingredients it's a surprisingly well balanced modern IPA that I look forward to quenching my thirst with when come summer. Wonderful stuff and a solid 4.7 out of 5 sun-drenched hop cones.
